Yes, it's confirmed. Battlefield 3 is indeed coming. Thanks to Electronic Arts COO John Pleasants, we finally have official word that the next iteration in the successful Battlefield franchise will indeed be happening.

It was in the course of Pleasants' presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference that the announcement was made. He also revealed that DICE is developing it, and that he's seen actual material of the game in development.

"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product." But before you go lining up for this game, "Of course, that's not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."

Pleasants did not mention as to which specific platforms this game will land on.
