Battlefield Heroes - Image 1

Electronic Arts has announced that the beta for its cartoon-style, free to play action title Battlefield Heroes will be going live on the 6th of May. Anyone interested in participating may sign up now at the game's official website.

Players will now be able to try out the touted release from EA's Play 4 Free banner. It's being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and will incorporate first and third person shooter elements. As promised, the game will require a minimal set of specifications to allow as many people as possible to join in.

Emphasis on skill and strategy has been curbed a bit in order to attract casual gamers. As you may have guessed, the game is free because it'll be funded by advertisements on the Battlefield Heroes website. None of the ads, however, will pop up in-game, so don't worry about an experience which will be blemished by party-pooping messages trying to sell weird stuff.
