The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from Bethesda Softworks for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 - Image 1

Executive Peter Hines believed that when Xbox 360 players rattled the gates of Bethesda Softworks, they weren't complaining about the huge price for downloading additional content for their copy of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In fact, he said in an interview with Games Industry that "[Bethesda] found that the price isn't really the issue."

According to him, they've found out that players just want more value out of the investment. Hines said, "I'll pay US$ 3 for downloadable content, but it better be cool." Last year, Bethesda released horse armor download content for Oblivion on the Xbox 360 and yet never thought about the implications of pricing it at 200 Microsoft points.

"So if we had to do it over again, I'd say either we should wait until later for the horse armor or do it for less," Hines concluded. People just want to feel like they're getting a good deal. It doesn't matter how much the price is, as long as they're getting they're actual money's worth (or more) with the practical and entertainment value of the additions.

So as we wait for Oblivion: The Shivering Isles to come out for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it's a hope that the expansion would be priced reasonably less.

No, players want extra content at no cost. Not $2.50 horse armour.

those tiny little mods like the horse armor should of been free.

Mods that added whole new buildings, quests and other stuff i could see paying 2-3 bucks for those.

but when oblivion has 1000+ mods for free, no one is gonna pay for them unless they're really damn good.
