For sure. When Microsoft seemed bent to advocate Live Anywhere to game developers in order to connect console thumb-flippers to PC twitchers on what might have been the modern gamer's World War I, they probably didn't expect to be stopped dead cold by Infinity Ward's two-lettered dumb-founder: "No." Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ain't going Live, says Infinity, and that's that.

But Infinity Ward's Grant Collier did reveal in an interview with IGN that CoD4 (for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) was not going to be a sandbox destructive game. Instead, they've put more focus on producing better frame rates on the game than creating a world that's "totally destructible."

And according to Collier, full destructibility is just another fad in the shooting genre that could end sooner than later. While everyone is else is requesting for such a feature, Infinity Ward doesn't feel that it delivers fun in any of the games that are being designed with that concept in mind, like EA's Battlefield Bad Company. He added:

I think it's a buzzword, it's a badge, it's a bullet-point option, but a lot of games they get in there and they try to do that and then they're like 'okay we have the sandbox, now why don't we try to make the game fun'. And total destructibility, you can really ruin the gameplay. ... So I think right now it's a fad, and the fad will pass, we're not going to be bite on in it - we want the game to be fun first, and destructibility comes second.

Oh and Price is coming back. Again. Revived for the modern era, the lovable Brit is going to get new shoes to fill, with arch-nemesis Zakhaev. Collier said that a foiled assassination attempt has your paths cross with Zakhaev and Price and much of their history gets revealed through flashbacks set in Ukraine.

And even though facts have been tossed around that Call of Duty 4 was set in present-day Iraq, it actually revolves around conflict touching the four corners of the modern world. And enemies aren't under-equipped, cowardly Guerrilla types; they've got the technology and the tactics to take you and your band of brothers (circa 2007) out.

This whole article screams.....our engine can't do fully destructible worlds and keep a decent framerate....so it's such a fad because we are lazy...

How does blowing a hole in a wall where the enemy is hiding behind, then blowing him away not equal fun ?

Slowly chipping away at barries that pussies are hiding behind until it's there no more and they are forced to run or die is not fun ?

Sorry, just takes some creative map design and abit of effort.....

 » no no...

He's talking about Windows Live, not Xbox Live. CoD4 _WILL DEFINITELY_ support Xbox Live. On Windows we're more into letting PC people play without paying for a Gold account.

For the last f*cking time, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY WINDOWS LIVE GAMES ONLINE, ONLY IF YOU WANT CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY. A quick search for, guess what, games for windows live brings up this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_for_Windows_-_Live

Read it all. If you don't want to go to the link I'll just paste the pertinent information

Differences between Gold and Silver Memberships

Games for Windows - LIVE Silver Membership Features

* Single gamertag
* Common gamer profile
* Common gamerscore
* Single player achievements
* Private chat via text and voice
* Common friends list and online presence
* PC only multiplayer including browsing a list of active PC games

Games for Windows - LIVE Gold Membership Features

* All Silver membership features
* Multiplayer matchmaking with friends
* TrueSkill matchmaking
* Multiplayer achievements
* Cross-platform gameplay

Now shut the f*ck up and get your facts straight. You want sh*tty ranked play and cross-platform play, you gotta pay (and if you have an Xbox you get Live on that as well). You want standard PC-only multiplayer with a game browser, it is COMPLETELY FREE

Destructible environments a fad. Pfft. The fact that you can change your environment any way you want adds to the gameplay immensely, it just raises a lot of problems for the game designers and thats prob why they're b!tchin.

I think that's a great idea not allowing Windows Live to connect to xbox live players...it's a stupid concept, PC gamers always create hacks and cheats for their games, most of the games that get hacks like aimbots, speedhacks ,wallhacks are first person shooter games and all previous COD titles on the PC currently have hacks that give the player a better advantage over everyone else...not like they already have a better advatange using a mouse but when you get people using aimbots so they dont have to aim at you themselfs but instead have a bot locate your model in a 360 degree field of vision it *****ing sucks.

When you get players using wallhacks so they can see through walls and know where you are it sucks. when you get players using speedhacks and moving,jumping,shooting faster than you thought possible it sucks and all those type of cheats exist for all kinds of games on the PC and for everyone previous title of call of duty on the PC, online is ridden with cheaters.

and the same is going to happen to cod4, if they decide to add multiplayer they need to keep it to PC vs PC and not PC vs 360 because xbox live players already have enough to worry about with glitchers doing ***** like getting out of maps and getting behind walls where nobody can see them or kill them but they can see & kill you.

I hope it has online for the PlayStation 3 though. I don't know, but I'm probably going to get Battlefield: Bad Company instead of this.

 » LEARN TO READ

LEARN TO READ. They're saying no WINDOWS LIVE not no XBOX LIVE. This mean they dont want XBOX LIVE PLAYERS to play with WINDOWS LIVE players, PC vs XBOX = not happening , XBOX vs XBOX = happening.

 » Only a matter of time..........

I'm glad to see them stand up to microshaft. And I hope more say "NO"

It will be only a matter of time, before, Windows Live turns into a XBL gold.
Micro$haft is too greedy to miss the chance to charge all those PC gamers. Remember the ad on TV "Only 5 cents a transaction", except there's billions of transactions occuring.
Same with XBL and WinLive. Millions of PC gamers out there, playing for free. And Micro$shaft wants to make sure they get their nickles too. Watch, they will cripple ware it. If you don't pay, you can't play. All you PC's gamers, it's coming.

 » Sorry, but no

I've noticed that most "MS-haters" (really, if you put a dollar symbol in MS it invalidates your whole statement from the get-go so I don't even know why I'm bothering) have IQs about equal to their shoe size.

Microsoft is not as dumb as you think, and the people running it know what they're doing. That's why everything MS does works. They know that if they ever force PC players to pay just to play against other PC players there will be unbelievable backlash.

Do you really think Microsoft just does whatever seems like a cash cow with no forethought? If you do you're a complete fool. Even I can tell you forcing PC players to pay just for general online play would LOSE you customers, not gain them. You think Microsoft doesn't realize that? Losing customers does not equal profit, therefore it will never happen.
