The Swine Flu (now officially known as the H1N1 virus) is proving to cause a huge damper on the upcoming E3 festivities. With just literally a couple of weeks before the curtains rise to start what could be the biggest games show of the year, we have attendees going over the list and checking it twice, for fear of the said virus.

Capcom Japan, for one, is seriously reconsidering its attendance of the event. Given the country's very tough travel regulations at this point in time, their office is still uncertain whether or not they will be getting the green light to fly out to LA. In fact, even Capcom producer Keiji Inafune himself has canceled an appearance at the also-upcoming Nordic Game expo in Sweden, also because of the virus.

Erm... I don't think that's a good idea, kid.

A Capcom rep confirmed Inafune's change in plans, as well as the uncertainty surrounding the Japan office of Capcom. "I can't tell you right now who from Capcom Japan is attending E3. A decision on who from Japan is coming will be made nearer the time."

Capcom is strong to reiterate, though, that the company will have a presence in the event via their US and UK teams. "The show is in Los Angeles and we have offices in America, so E3 is still on."

The E3 organizers, for their part, have reassured the people that the E3 Expo in LA will still be a go, while some other attendees like Activision, Eidos and Ubisoft have re-confirmed their attendance, albeit with very close monitoring in the situation.

The swine flu is still here? Man did that stuff die on the news all of the sudden. I don't hear anybody talking about it anymore. Excuses excuses...

There are recent outbreaks in Japan and in some parts of Asia. Even though cases in US are seem to stabilize (less reports), the swine flu is still spreading. You must be living in a cave for not knowing anything.
