If Crysis is getting developed for the PS3, that will be the END of the 360 !!! Personnaly, I dream of the day I could play Crysis on my PS3, that'll be kick a$$ !!!!
Cut the fanboy console wars cr*p please!
Anyway....
From the beginning, Crytek have said that Crysis is ONLY coming to the PC, *BUT* the engine is coming to 360 and PS3, meaning they'll be creating next-gen console games USING THEIR CRY ENGINE 2.0 (sorry, but I had to shout ;)).
In otherwords, we can expect console SPECIFIC CryEngine 2.0 games on the 360 and PS3, rather than getting straight PC Ports.
Think of it like Far Cry Instincts on the XBox. Instead of just porting Far Cry from the PC, they created a new Far Cry game specifically for the XBox, which resulted in a better game.
http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox/action/farcry/review.html
"Well, it turns out that for starters, developer Ubisoft Montreal threw Far Cry out the window and created a new game from the ground up, one designed to take full advantage of the Xbox's hardware. That's all well and good, but what everyone didn't expect was that Ubisoft Montreal would create a game that's even better than Far Cry, and considering how good Far Cry was, that's saying quite a lot."
So imo, we should look out for 'Cysis Instincts' for the 360 and PS3. :)
Don't be jealous because you're too poor to buy a PS3. As an owner of both consoles I would purchase Crysis for the PS3, my 360 is more of a book stop now anyway.
What has this got to do with who owns which console?
CryEngine 2.0 has been ported to both 360 and PS3, the devs have even spoken about the differences between the two consoles and the challenges they face (there was an excellent interview about a year ago).
Also, here's a recent interview from GDC07;
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id+18033
(change the PLUS character to EQUAL on the link, QJ changes it for some reason).
So like I said, we can expect CryEngine 2.0 games to come to both consoles in the future.
Yes James you are right they did say it was exclusive and therefore there is absolutely no chance they could change their mind. They are after all a developer the most trustworthy people in the world.
"Yes James you are right they did say it was exclusive"
Tell me why you have a problem with the idea of something like Crysis Instincts coming to 360 and PS3? A game which could potentially be a better game than Crysis, just as Far Cry Instincts on the XBox was considered by many to be a better game than Far Cry on the PC?
Don't you want thedevs to make the BEST use of the consoles they can rather than a straight PC port?
Really, I fail to see why you or anyone has a problem with this idea. Or are just a fanboy such that the mere mention of the 360 gets your back up?
Ok ok you have been stocking up the arguments and the facts long enough both of you but you clearly havent realised what does Microsoft means...What? I here you say, listen up then. MS owns more than 70% of the computer operating systems. Crysis works at its optimum using Direct X found in windows so nearly all pc owners who like these kind of games will buy it on a windows OP pc, and so on and so forth the point is that the developers rely heavily on the support of MS. So if a pc game is going to any other platform it is absolutly going to be ported to the Xbox no questions asked, period. If the developers would like otherwise such as Crysis going only to the ps3 the arch rival of MS(in the gaming industry) then MS would cut off any support to these developers resulting into losing 70% potential buyers. This is a fact whether you like it or not it may not happen as roughly as I have put it but the outcome will still be the same in the end. So forget exclusives forget cry engines and staff and remember that money comes first to these peolpe and not us the gamers.
"If the developers would like otherwise such as Crysis going only to the ps3 the arch rival of MS(in the gaming industry) then MS would cut off any support to these developers resulting into losing 70% potential buyers."
*Sigh* MS do not own Crytek, so if Crytek decided to do that, it wouldn't change the was MS supports them. Why would MS cut off support when there's still the PC version? That's cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Sorry, what you're saying is ridiculous. It just doesn't work that way! :|
Looking back, I wish I could edit my posts sometimes... spelling errors, missing words, typos etc.
I guess I should be more careful. ;)
Yeah right... just keep pretending that you dont get it...
"just keep pretending that you dont get it..."
You mean like you do? No thanks, I prefer to live in the real world. I leave fantasies to guys like you.
Pleasant dreams. ;)
LOL just cause some Eye Candy is MAYBE getting a port to the PS3 means nothing to the 360.......heck if the 360 didn't get Mass Effect or BioShock this year they are still getting HALO 3, which by itself is going to sell a few million MORE 360's
And that world happens to be called Games4james...you are another 360 fanboy...
Strange though, you'll need to explain how my comments here about possibly seeing a Crysis game for the 360 AND PS3, one which may even be better than the PC version of Crysis, makes me a 360 fanboy.
Like I said already, I can't see why anyone would object to the idea of such a game, except perhaps a PS3 fanboy.
The fact that you tried to say ANYONE thought farcry instincts was better than the original farcry. ONly someone drinking the bill gate kool-aid would say something like that. PC had better graphics, better open-ended gameplay, better A.I, etc...
>"The fact that you tried to say ANYONE thought farcry instincts was better than the original farcry."
Tried to say? THEY HAVE SAID IT!!
He posted this from the Gamespot review of FryCry Instincts in his post. READ IT!
http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox/action/farcry/review.html
"Well, it turns out that for starters, developer Ubisoft Montreal threw Far Cry out the window and created a new game from the ground up, one designed to take full advantage of the Xbox's hardware. That's all well and good, but what everyone didn't expect was that Ubisoft Montreal would create a game that's even better than Far Cry, and considering how good Far Cry was, that's saying quite a lot."
Did you read that? Read it again if you still don't get it!
This game got great reviews, far better than many expected. Yes we know the graphics would be better on a PC, but as a GAME, many considered Instincts to be more fun and therefore more enjoyable than the PC original. Also, being a new game, PC gamers couldn't yawn and say "Who cares, I played that years ago".
So to repeat the point, Games4James is saying that they probably wouldn't port Crysis from to consoles, but will do what they did with FarCry and create an all new Crysis game SPECIFICALLY for consoles. That way we get a better CONSOLE GAME and a NEW game instead of a PC port.
If you still can't see the logic behind that and why it would be better for consoles, then I suggest YOU are the fanboy (perhaps a PC fanboy?). However, if you are a console gamer, I would hope you now understand what is being said here!
Something to look forward to
I saw this job posting on the Crytek site months ago, in 2006. Pick up the pace QJ.
if it come to PS3... It must come to 360 as well....
are you sure about that?
I hope it's as good.
*****ing ps3fan-boys
i hate more that fanboy than the PS3 itself...
" Don't be jealous because you're too poor to buy a PS3"
WTF!?!
please gown up....
I don't hate the PS3 (I think it's a great console, but I'm waiting for games like MGS4 and GT5), so I find it amusing that antbing thinks I can't afford a PS3 based upon a post I made celebrating the idea of a CryEngine 2.0 game on both 360 and PS3.
What's even more amusing (from my point of view), is that I own my property (mortgage paid off), I'm in a well paid job and I have enough savings to give up work for at least 5 years.
If that's being poor then wow, isn't life terrible for me. ;)
and i defend the PS3...
but i'm with AA... please grow up. you're embarassing other PS3 owners.
This makes a lot of sense to me, considering that they've been coding their 2.0 engine from the ground up for multi-core processing. PS3 hardware is designed with multi-core coding in-mind, so naturally any game that is designed to take advantage of more than one processing core should port beautifully to the PS3. As long as Crytec has the latest SDK (which I imagine they do), it should be a great port of a great game.
Anyone else think the release date for Crysis is going to be pushed back now?
or more interestingly..
Anyone think mr .common sense just wet his pants and started crying liek teh lil siss he is when he heard this?
i certainly think so
Crysis is not going to 360 360 has direct 9.0 360 can't handle that engine ps3 can wii had no chance for no grahpice i guess i got 360/wii not ps3 which sucks beacause 360 is holding back gta:iv's grahics lol
The only thing the PS3 will have the upper hand is on t he physics implemented in the Crytex Engine for Crysis. In terms of graphical performance, the 360 would have the edge. I don't know how many comparisons or test are needed until people finally get in there head that the ATI GPU found in the 360 is slightly superior to the Nvidia GPU in the PS3. Especially seeing that it can do AA + HDR Simultaneously while the RSX GPU in the PS3 can not. Either way, if it "did" happen, it will just show how Superior PC Technology is already with the game running under DX 10 compared to DX 9 consoles on older technology.
i dont think u live in this world as for ps3 and xbox360 graphical comparison u forget to mention games but now i will mention them any games which released currently like armoredcore elderscrolls fear they all are showing that ps3 verson of game is graphically superior in xbox360 games have lots of darkness and increase in contrast now for upcoming multiplatform games like army of two assasins creed both were shown at gamertv and it was said that ps3 was lot more superior in graphics and gameplay xbox360can only handle dx9 games but ps3 can handle dx10 games so how the hell can u compare both consoles in graphics even now ps3 is in its first genration of games ps3 is beating the graphics of xbox360 then what will happen in its thirdgenration games i admit that devloping games in xbox360 is very easy and devlopers have reached at almost full potential of xbox360 but currently released games in ps3 are only using 10 to 30% of its potential so dont even think about comparing graphics of both consoles if u still want to compare than i have a proof i will post all the links of videos which were used by gametrailers, gamevideos.com to compare both consoles graphics
>"armoredcore elderscrolls fear they all are showing that ps3 verson of game is graphically superior"
No they don't.
Armoured Core 4 is actually a little better on the 360 (although it doesn't really matter because the graphics are average in both version anyway);
(Note: change PLUS to EQUALs in the following links)
http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/sim/armoredcore4/review.html?sid+6167744
"The Xbox 360 version and PS3 version are functionally the same in nearly every respect, but you will find that, surprisingly, the Xbox 360 version will look a tad better, particularly in atmospheric particle effects. Otherwise, the only real difference between the two is the 360's achievement points."
Look at this comparison video of Fear on the 360 and PS3. The 360 framerate is smooth in area where the PS3 version struggles.
http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/10662
As for Oblivion, the devs say the PS3 version has benefitted for extra developement time, not power. Hence the *slight* improvements seen in the PS3 version will be available soon in the PC and 360 version via a patch.
>" army of two assasins creed both were shown at gamertv and it was said that ps3 was lot more superior in graphics and gameplay xbox360can only handle dx9 games but ps3 can handle dx10 games"
Lies and more lies. Please be quiet when you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks.
>"in xbox360 is very easy and devlopers have reached at almost full potential of xbox360 but currently released games in ps3 are only using 10 to 30% of its potential"
LOL! Geez you are so ignorant. I love it. You have NO idea what you're talking about except to repeat the dumb words of OTHER fanboys online. Well done. Neither the 360 nor PS3 have come anywhere near reaching their full potential, and so these percentages are as stupid and WRONG as they were last gen! That right, they are MEANINGLESS. We saw it all with the PS2 and XBox, and it meant NOTHING.
>"if u still want to compare than i have a proof i will post all the links of videos which were used by gametrailers, gamevideos.com to compare both consoles graphics"
Go ahead. I've already posted Fear (but since the framerate is better in the 360 version you may want to ignore that). I've seen Oblivion and yes the PS3 is improved, but we have yet to see the patched 360 version for comparison. As for Armoured Core 4, the comparison video I saw made the 360 version look darker than normal and the PS3 version more washed out than normal, and the res is below that of the actually game anyway. So going by the impressions of those who've actually PLAYED both versions, like Gamespot in the link above, the 360 version is better. :P
Perhaps you can show us the Splinter Cell comparison too whilst you're at it ;) Oh but, you may want to ignore this too because the 360 version is superior yet again.

read the third paragraph its all written by site management
"now its time for real proof mr OneTooMany"
Please tell me which part of the sentence Onetoomany wrote that you didn't understand?;
"As for Oblivion, the devs say the PS3 version has benefitted for extra developement time, not power. Hence the *slight* improvements seen in the PS3 version will be available soon in the PC and 360 version via a patch."
New shaders are what makes the improvements to the textures described in the 3rd paragraph you mention (once the link is corrected that is). These new shaders will soon be available on the 360 and PC via a patch.
So all you prove with that Gamespot link is everything OneTooMany just said about Oblivion.
Here, I'll add to that with a quote from the dev in an interview;
Interview: Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines;
http://www.shacknews.com/extras/2007/020807_petehines_1.x
"Shack: Can you offer any insight into how much of that was made possible by the PS3 hardware versus simply the additional development time?
Pete Hines: It was entirely due to extra development time. It's not like the PS3 can do this and the others can't, it's actually something we were considering doing for the other platforms as well."
So, you were saying?
Read the whole interview. OneTooMany is correct about Oblivion too.
Pete Hines: "IT WAS ENTIRELY DUE TO EXTRA DEVELOPMENT TIME. IT'S NOT LIKE THE PS3 CAN DO THIS AND THE OTHERS CAN'T"
But hey, but what does Bethesda's Peter Hines know anyway THEIR game anyway. :P ;)
we are gamers why do we argue over gaming consoles, its supposed to be FUN, have you forgotten why are we arguing over hardware.
I mean at the most we should argue over games, i think you guy/girls have lost sight of what it means to own a gaming console. man ps2 didn't have the best looking games but it was still the best choose even though it didn't have goodonline graphics etc it had the best variety f games at good value. its about the games stop being a fanboy because one day it will slap you in the face and it will hurt.
They would have to tone the graphics down on the 360 and the PS3. I think that defeats the whole purpose of Crysis. For those who still don't understand my point I'll ask you this. Where would Crysis be without the graphics? If I'm going to play the best looking game ever made I want to be able to play it at its best (DX 10)right?
Direct X 10 isn't needed for consoles, because it's for different graphics hardware.
The PC has hundreds of different types of graphics cards.
Consoles have only one.
Direct X 10 is mostly something that makes it easier for the developers to code for different cards..
So as you can see, consoles don't need it.
your right on the money........
dx10 is just a optimized version of dx9 allowing for more performance per polygon/pixel/vertice/shader...and ease of use for developers.
consoles dont require dx10, for the developers are optimizing the games for 1 specific hardware solution........the pc market has to cover a wider base of pc solutions to accomodate from the cheaper among us to the spoiled lucky rich kids, leading to a very thin layer of optimization standards.....would it be better for consoles to have dx10?....yes...but the difficulties w/o it can be overcome by a lil extra effort on the developers part.
do research plz...........officals announce that they are requesting ps3 coders for the ps at crytek.............in no way are they goin to port crysis to the consoles..........only cryengine2 the software driving crtyteks creation is goin to the ps3
ps go to crysis-online.com for more information...tho there are many other sites to look into more info about cryteks upcomin game..........if your wanting to play this game in all its glory i suggest u get a dx10 card, vista, about 2gb ram, and a dual core processor or better.............
Huh !!
WTF Give me any game goes to PC and PS3 ONLY !!
Stupid Rumor I've ever heard !
I cant wait to play on my PS3, another reason to own PS3. Sony is getting better and better everyday free online with no lag, so many blu-ray movies to watch and now more awsome games coming for PS3
...Make PlayStation lovers like me look bad. I m3ean, I love my PS3, much more than my 360, but I still think the 360 is a very good console, and the online community is very good, I can actually send-receive messages while in-game.
their is no Exclusivity for Pc
CRYSIS IS GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For people with crappy computers and can't afford a decent enough one to run crysis, which i hear is a really computer demanding game like comon it uses DX10 and if played on computer it should probably be used with geforce 8800 or ATI's latest hardcore graphcis card supplemented with plenty of ram say 2gb or maybe 1gb plus a decent processor like 2-4ghz dual core or quad or even single core totalling up to >$2000, they can just buy the ps3 for like 600 USD and still enjoy this graphics intense next gen game without worrying if their system is strong enough to display the game the way it was meant to be which means if this game is ported to the ps3 then more people might and i mean might (i can't say for sure) buy a ps3 to play crysis. If you find a cheap way to play a next gen graphics intense game like this then consumers would pursue it hence more people would buy the ps3 to play crysis if is being ported. Im not a fanboy but i do own a ps3 and not a 360 (im planning to get the elite one later on) so i can safely assume that a 360 port (which i think could be done--the ps3 specs aren't insanely higher than 360 but they are higher unless future ps3 games prove otherwise) would help its sales not that it really needs help selling cause its been out longer.
