Flex those PC muscles: Crysis demo arrives - Image 1

The moment of truth is at hand. If you didn't get to enter the few exclusive Beta tests of Crysis, then this news is for you. The Crysis demo was rescheduled for release today, and Crytek made good on their promise. Electronic Arts now has a taste of the PC community's most anticipated game for 2007 out on the most popular download portals in the Internet, and you could say hardcore gamers and hardware enthusiasts are flexing many a PC muscle in the 45-minute long, single-player demo.

As was reported a month back, the Crysis demo will sport the CryEngine 2 Sandbox editor, so budding modders and experienced modders can prime themselves for user-created content in the remaining weeks before the game hits shelves. Now servers around the world must feel the almost endless download strain once again, and avid torrent seeders will become the unsung heroes for those late in picking up the news.

Why? Because the demo, weighing in at a whopping 1.77 GB of compressed data, already has most of the popular, non-membership download sites at a crawl - which is an understatement in itself. This is why we've added a little treat for those who picked up this news here at QJ.NET: an FTP link to EA's own file hosting.

Unreal Tournament 3 - Image 1

For those of us itching to exercise our trigger fingers in some fine FPS action, then this update should get you working up a sweat in no time: the PC demos of Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) and TimeShift (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) have recently been made available for your downloading pleasure. That's not one, not two, but three games you'll be sinking your teeth into before their full games get released. Awesome!

A little bit of a refresher on all three games: Unreal Tournament 3 is from Epic Games and features the most graphically-detailed FPS action we've seen. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare puts you in the middle of a modern war with unique abilities and perks to get you that edge over the tangoes.

And finally, TimeShift gives you the neat ability to manipulate time for some unprecedented FPS fun. When was the last time you took your opponent's weapon by ripping his arms off with it?

Certainly a great day for the videogaming community indeed. Check out the read link to find out how to download these gems!

Microsoft's demo for Age of Empire III: The Asian Dynasties features the Japanese faction - Image 1

If you're itching to play the newest expansion for Age of Empires III then Microsoft is willing to give gamers a taste of its not so forbidden fruit. The demo version for Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties has finally gone up on the official website giving you the chance to test run the game before its October 23 release date.

The demo features one of the three controllable Asian factions, the Japanese, in a new random map (Honshu). You can also get to try out one of the new game modes that will be introduced to the expansion, the King of the Hill. Much like other game modes of the same name, you need to capture and defend a particular fort up until a timer runs out against other players.

True to their word, the game promises a very immersive experience in this historical real-time strategy game. However, this is just a sneak peek at what the real game will be like. With the Indian and the Chinese faction still sitting on the sidelines, you can try out your hand playing the noble Japanese faction in the meantime. You can check out the demo through the Read link below.

Sega Europe Ltd. just recently announced the development of sports simulation title for the PlayStation Portable Football Manager Handheld 2008. Staying true to the franchise, we just got word that Sega will also be coming up with a PC version of the game, this time to be called Football Manager 2008.

This particular iteration is being developed by Sports Interactive, studio director Miles Jacobson had this to say, "with dozens of new small features and larger things like a complete revamp of international management and the new match flow system, we're really looking forward to seeing the reaction from people when they get to play it on release."

Football Manager 2008 will be released before this year's Christmas. To help you get familiar with the game, we listed down its new features and hosted the newly-released demo just so you will know if it suites your taste.

Football Manager 2008 features:
  • Match Flow: Match flow brings more atmosphere to match-days with match previews, team talks, opposition player instructions, the match itself, half time and post match. These now seamlessly follow on from one another, with no more pausing to make tactical changes, and a mini-radar pitch whilst making those tactical changes to keep you in touch with what's going on in the match.
  • International Management: Media improvements, international retirements, player interaction, international scouting, improved pool selection, captain selection and a separation of international and club morale for players
  • Easier to Use: A much cleaner skin, a brand new advisor system to help players through various areas of the game. A new notes and notebook system, better button positioning for simpler navigation and an updated tutorial and manual
  • Confidence: Players can now easily tell what the board and supporters think about their performance in the game through the new confidence section. This gives players feedback not just on their current progress in competitions, but also their financial management and signings
  • Transfer Center: A new way of managing all current transfer and loan bids for a players club, both incoming and outgoing, making it easier to compare bids and reject or accept them
