Devil May Cry 4 - Image 1Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi sat down with Team Xbox to show off the Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry 4's (by Capcom also for PlayStation 3, PC) work-in-progress demo of the game, and revealed some interesting details about the game, mostly about DMC 4 being the franchise's Xbox 360 debut. Later, they also touched on other aspects of the game that concern the other platform releases as well.

Kobayashi said that one of the reasons why they decided to introduce a new character in DMC 4, Nero, is to make it easier for Xbox users (as well as other first-time Devil May Cry gamers) to catch up with those who already played through the first three games. He added:

We have created this game so that, if you haven’t played games in the series before, you will enjoy it. First of all, the story…you can enjoy that even if you don’t know the story of the other three games in the series - it won’t affect your enjoyment of this story.

Kobayashi also mentioned that Dante, the recurring protagonist in the series, will still wield his sword, his guns Ebony and Ivory, as well as a shotgun. However, he will get to use other new weapons as well, such as new martial arts moves, and a cool missile launcher.

Fans of the franchise will also be treated to a variety of enemies, most of them categorized by Kobayashi into "animal style of enemies", "human forms of enemies" and "tens of meters tall type of enemies" (we'd like that, very much).

Devil May Cry 4 is definitely shaping up to be a great game, and we couldn't wait for its release, which is currently dated within February 2008 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, with the PC version to follow. More details to come!

You do know that you will play the game as Dante and Nero. The game shows Nero, however both Nero and Dante are vital to the story, and you will be playing as both of them.

Thats not his point, his point is Playing the game with someone else just to benefit xbox players is ridiculous. And were probably won't get enough missions with Dante anyway, try at best 5 while Nero 15, unless there will be more than 20 missions which i doubt. Dante is better than Nero, and i hate the fact there trying to make nero like Dante, there is only one Dante. And Nero talks like a fool, which is why im not going to like this game this much cause of the lack of Dante in every mission.

» That has got to be a mistake...

How could they have planned for Nero to be a way to help Xbox gamers get into the DMC franchise when DMC4 was initially announced as a PS3 exclusive? Or is he saying that they planned for a 360 release from the beginning (despite touting it as a PS3 exclusive)... Hmm...
