Whatever the case, Atari's recent press conference had former Sony bigwig Phil Harrison handle the proceedings. Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Image 1It's been an open secret for a while now (like how the Secret Service is supposed to be a secret), but now it's officially official. Officially. Atari has announced that it will be publishing the Ghostbusters video game.

Sony has also announced that they will be re-releasing the original two movies on Blu-ray. More after the link.

Atari  - Image 1Eight games were left rolling with the tumbleweeds after Activision Blizzard dropped them to make way for its merger.

Now we can all heave a collective sigh of relief for at least two of them. Atari has picked up the publishing rights to Ghostbusters and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

Ghostbusters - Image 1 Word on the street is that The Ghostbusters video game was picked up by Atari, but still won't be released till next year. How many more months before I can toast the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Gah, so sad.

Ghostbusters logo - Image 1It was a bit of a letdown when Activision Blizzard didn't include Ghostbusters: the video game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PC) in its list of releases for the remainder of 2008. Vivendi, however, indicated that all is not lost as they will be exploring other options on how to release it. The game will have to come in 2009, but someone has to pick up the publishing reins first.
