NPD US weekly software sales: The Phantom of Venice steals the show - Image 1

Though the company's target market is gender specific, Her Interactive managed to earn top spot in the week between July 6 to July 12, 2008. According to NPD Group, the software sales for the launch week of Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice witnessed the super-sleuth's 19th adventure skyrocket to first place, keeping Electronic Arts' Spore Creature Creator and The Sims 2 Double Deluxe sets at bay.

Also around for a big fan shout-out is Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo Battle Chest collection, sporting all the lovely goodies of Diablo, Diablo II, and Lord of Destruction. World of Warcraft: Battle Chest and the separate World of Warcraft packages sit idly at the lower half of the top ten.

Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the only shooter seen at the top ten, hangs on at the tenth spot. The top ten games for the week of July 6 to July 12, according to NPD US sales, are as follows:
  • Nancy Drew: The Phantom Of Venice by Her Interactive
  • Spore Creature Creator by EA Maxis
  • The Sims 2 Double Deluxe by EA Maxis
  • Diablo Battle Chest by Blizzard
  • The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff Expansion Pack by EA Maxis
  • World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest by Blizzard
  • World Of Warcraft by Blizzard
  • The Sims 2 FreeTime Expansion Pack by EA Maxis
  • World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack by Blizzard
  • Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare by Infinity Ward
