Gears of War - Image 1

Here's a bit of bad news for those of us looking for more Gears of War (Xbox 360, PC) joy in terms of downloadable content. It seems that Epic Games, the developing force behind the massively-popular Unreal engine, is moving on to concentrate on other projects. This means that we might not be seeing downloadable content for Marcus Fenix's bloody adventure for quite some time. Ouch.

This comes directly from both Microsoft and Epic, who both stated that as of this writing that there is nothing planned for Gears of War downloadable content. It's a bit of a letdown, considering that the recent downladable content packs for the game have been received pretty well. It'd be a shame for Epic to stop when a lot of players are expecting some bad-ass content pack in the horizon.

However, as always, we have to look at the bright side: at least this means that Epic is now concentrating its efforts on other games. Maybe a sequel, or another game in the vein of Gears of War? The possibility is there, and if it's taking up most of Epic Games to pull off, then it should be a major project. Here's hoping so, and we'll be sure to update you as this issue develops.
