Fallout 3: How will Bethesda change war? - Image 1

"Some people will like it, some people will hate it." Sounds like something that can be said about pretty much any video game, right? Well, in this context, the "it" being referred to is Fallout 3. The one who said the comment is Bethesda's own Pete Hines, who also added that "Some people already like it or hate it, and they don't even know what we're doing yet!"

Fallout 3 has become one of the most highly-anticipated video games ever. Fans of the series have already expressed mixed reactions on how Bethesda's follow-up will measure up to the originals. Hines remains realistic about how fans will receive the game, telling PC Zone that "not everybody is going to agree with the game we're making: it's a solid-gold lock... some folks just aren't going to give it a chance out of the box."

That's not to say that Bethesda's not giving Fallout 3 their all, though. "We're all big Fallout fans", Hines explained. He also added that the Bethesda team has played both Fallout and Fallout 2, even the non-RPG ones entries in the series. "We feel that we're doing Fallout 3 having done one and two, even thought we didn't," said Hines.

Hines also had a few words of assurance for those worried that Bethesda will end up releasing some kind of non-Fallout Fallout. "We also want to stay true to the stuff people remember and took to heart in Fallout, said Hines, alluding to "the kinds of quests you did, the choices that were laid before you, the way the game would play differently depending on how you were role-playing and the setting... That sort of stuff."

Will Ron Perlman still greet us when we boot up the game? Will war finally change? We'll all have to wait until Fallout 3 hits for all of our questions to be answered.
