Activision Inc. (aka Second Only to EA) did a survey of 1,014 people and found out a few things. The AP source didn't say who the survey-takers were or where/when this survey was done, so we'll have to take the data as given. If you don't want to read numbers, just jump down to the conclusion.

• Almost three out of five parents play video games. Of these video-game-playing parents, half play video games with their kids, but 49% play their children's games by themselves.
• Almost three out of four parents said they feel comfortable that video games are part of family life.
• 52% of parents do research: they read game reviews/previews on gaming sites (hello to any parents reading this).
• 56% of parents said they rely mostly on the ESRB rating system.
• 84% are familiar with the ESRB.
• Four out of five say they pay close attention to the ESRB rating.
