Prototype - Image 1

Sierra Entertainment and Radical Entertainment have just revealed Prototype, a brand spanking-new game lined up for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. And from the screenshots and artwork below, it's looking damn pretty. Think GTA IV meets F.E.A.R. meets The Agency meets The Crossing. Well, you might want to take that with a grain of salt. It's too early to tell anything just yet.

The game is set in modern day Liberty City New York City, where a secret war is being waged behind the curtains of daily life. Our main man is Alex Mercer, your not-so-everyday-hero with a mysterious past and a score to settle. Conspiracies abound the bustling city and his past just might affect the very fabric of human existence.

See, Mercer's got shape-shifting abilities up his arsenal (note second screenshot below: impaled enemies, deathly spikes exploding from the asphalt, utter carnage, and all that) and can steal the abilities from his downed foes. And as Radical Entertainment president Kelly Zmak put it:

Radical Entertainment set out to create the most dynamic video game character ever imagined. From free-form movement to over-the-top combat action; Prototype can climb or wall-run across any surface, jump 30 stories high, and destroy anything that crosses his path.

Promising intense action aside, the developers have designed the game to be open-world and is currently slated to be released across the three platforms come summer of 2008.

 » Famitsu Employee (Reviewer)

I have been working for Famitsu for the past 2 years. I'm one of those reviewers at Famitsu. Just for a reference, Famitsu is like the biggest game related magazine company in Japan. My specialty is on western shooters and RPGs (I mean I mostly write reviews for shooters and RPGs); but I have more than enough data and info to write reviews for games in other genres.

[X360]
- Bioshock (review score 80): (Cons) single-player isn’t very compelling; repetitive
- Alan Wake (75): dated graphics
- Gears of War (90): hide-shoot-hide-shoot-(repeat this 500 times more)
- Fable 2 (70): ret+rded combat system
- Halo 3 (65): H3's graphics is even worse than the 2 year old game Perfect Dark Zero (PDZ and H3 both are made by the same company called Microsoft Gaming Studios. PDZ's graphics is much better than H3's because PDZ was made from scratch to take advantage of most power from the X360 hardware). H3’s run n gun ret+rded gameplay can’t be compared with other blockbusters such as Call of Duty 4.
- Splinter Cell: Conviction (55): f+cking weak combat system
- Project Gotham Racing 4 (85):
- Forza Motorsport 2 (80):
- Lost Planet (50): just another 3rd rated sh+t
- Lost Odyssey (55): mediocre
- Crackdown (30): trash
- Burnout Revenge (85):
- Dead Rising (60): hack n slash
- Dead or Alive 4 (55): weak combats
- Too Human (20): garbage
- Ace Combat 6 (10): should be freeware
- Overlord (10): another freeware
- Halo Wars (30): 10 year old graphics
- Mass Effect (30): even PDZ has better graphics
- Blue Dragon (20): only for kids
- Eternal Sonata (15): only for kids
- Shadowrun (10): another freeware
- Huxley (10): crap

[PS3]
- Killzone 2 (90): gameplay seems generic
- MotorStorm (90)
- Warhawk (80): sadly failed to become a blockbuster
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (90): too achromatic
- Heavenly Sword (90): combat system is even better than the most sold games, Ninja Gaiden and God of War
- Tekken 6 (80): environment graphics is bland
- Ratchet & Clank Future (65): only for kids
- Unreal Tournament 3 (65): terrible run n gunner
- Haze (60): even worst than UT3
- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (90):
- Folklore (20): sigh
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma (70): dated graphics
- Resistance: FoM (55): too achromatic and undetailed graphics
- LittleBigPlanet (10): only for kids
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (15): f+cking weak and boring gun & game-play
- Formula One (40): terrible online mode
- PS3 Home (10): only for lifeless and jobless teenagers
- Infamous (15): another garbage from Sony
- Lair (10): hack n slash
- SOCOM Confrontation (10): trashy graphics and gameplay
- Loco Roco [PS3] (10): only for kids
- Heavy Rain (90): best graphics + emotional gameplay

C'mon Lil big planet looks fun. Resistance is achromatic due 2 the nature of the theme but graphics are fine and gameplay is hella fierce. Uncharted is WAY UNDERATED. Motorstorm is overrated. U r biased against the 360 and u embares us PS3 owners.

SOCOM Confrontation (10): trashy graphics and gameplay

   Re: Melonz (Unregistered) - 2007-08-11
» The guy is an idiot, but

That SOCOM game does have pretty bad graphics. The gameplay of SOCOM is usually good, but from what I've seen of the PS3 game in GameInformer it looks horrible, like a PS2 game.
