Rise of the Argonauts - Image 1If you were excited with the promise of British-based devs Codemasters to deliver action-RPG Rise of the Argonauts (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC) this year, you may have noticed that news on the prospect have hit a bit of a dry spell lately. No cause for concern, however, as the game's makers assure us of a Q4 2008 launch.

Codemasters says that all is going well with the development of Rise of the Argonauts and they should be able to make good on their bold claims about it. The latest rendition of Jason's escapades are touted to reshape the genre as we know it.

For one, Codemasters claims that it will do away with old-school combat in action-RPGs by introducing a system that focuses more on calculating damage in relation to force and to spots where blows are applied. Visually, the crack gamesmiths are heralding a physics model that will show objects like swords and shields reacting independently to forces as they do in real life.

Quirks in the role-playing part like the deviation away from the good, evil, and neutral alignments will also be introduced. Instead, a more "political" system will be in place as you either curry the favor or the wrath of four gods depending on actions you take in given situations all over your quest. Sounds interesting, eh? Check back here at QJ.NET for more updates.
