Following reports that confirmed LucasArts' move to sack a hefty number of employees, it's apparent that at least one of the deposed has joined the "dark side". He has done so by allegedly leaking information about the game maker's upcoming projects. In a post sighted over at Kotaku, it was stated that the site received an email with some information about Knights of the Old republic 3 and a non-Lego Indiana Jones game. The email supposedly came from a former employee of LucasArts who was really ticked after he got laid off following six years of service to the company. The source said that KOTOR 3 will be an MMORPG which might be a joint effort between BioWare and LucasArts. A "real" Indiana Jones game is also said to be under development, while another Lego-themed one is being worked on. In addition, the source stated that the Nintendo Wii might very well get a lightsaber game. No peripherals were hinted at, so don't get your hopes up. While this word is certainly interesting, we'd like to remind everyone to take it all with a grain of salt. We'll update you when something more concrete comes out. Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (PC)] Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (PS3)] Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (PSP)] Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (Xbox 360)] Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (Wii)] Buy: [Lego Indiana Jones (DS)] |

Yes, leaking info is not really joining a side.

» actually it is.
Ever heard of the phrase "NDA"? Non-disclosure Agreement? You're not supposed to leak anything unless you're given permission, but since he got laid off it doesn't matter.

» Moo.
Just because you're laid off doesn't mean you're exempt from the NDA. And I think doing something that is ethically questionable counts as falling to the dark side.

How is he still under the NDA if he no longer has anything to do with the company? He could say whatever he wants since he has the knowledge.

NDAs usually state that even if the person's employment with the company ceases they aren't allowed to disclose any inside information or else they can face legal action.
I'm not sure if the leak would hinder them as much as it would help them. Leaks of interesting news tend to get a hype going about upcoming releases...

That's the point of an NDA, NarooN. To protect insider information. And that's very significant once their employment is terminated, no matter what circumstances. It does *not* give the employee carte blanche to go to the competitors or public and share confidential information about upcoming projects. Most NDAs specify a period of at least one (1) year after the termination of employment where an employee can't talk about anything learned from their time in the company until the company makes a public announcement of it themselves. Sometimes the term is longer. If I spilled the beans about any of the stuff I learned when I was working for Palm, Inc. I'd be in deep guano right now.

Great job screwing Lucasarts for laying off veteran employees.man! Not real damaging to the company, but he did a good thing.

If he got laid off, that means he was an ***** who didn't work right.

"If he got laid off, that means he was an ***** who didn't work right. "
No, that would have got him fired - not laid off.
I've worked for the same company for almost two decades and seen many rounds of layoffs. The people who get let go seldom get let go for the quality of their work - they get let go because they're the ones making the most money in an area the company has decided to scale back or eliminate.

» Hmmm...
Ya know, this article reminded me of something I read in a magazine sometime last year. It was something about an Indiana Jones game. It also had screenshots, in which there were definitely no LEGOs lol. Maybe he was talking about that game...
