Borderlands - Image 1New scans from the new issue of Game Informer reveals new details about Borderlands from an exclusive interview with the developers from Gearbox and a hands on demo of Borderlands itself.

From the developers we are given more details and insight on the game's ambitious and revolutionary new content generation system, and from the demo we are given the story behind Borderlands. Borderlands is set in the future when humans leave the Earth to head for the planet Pandora. When they reach the planet they discover that there is nothing there but alien ruins, so those who were capable of leaving the planet did so.

Those who stayed became mostly lawless scavengers and treasure hunters. However, after several years they discover that the planet is not abandoned after all when alien creatures wake from hibernation.

The story centers on three characters: Roland, Mordecai and Lilith. Their fates are entangled with a hidden powerful alien tech that can change the fate of the galaxy. You will play as one of them in single or co-op mode, which can handle up to four players at once. Because of the content generation system and the unique abilities of each one, there's no danger of a complete "clone" if two players decide to play the same character.

The content generation system is expounded more in the article. Developers explain (and demonstrated in the demo) that it generates almost everything randomly. Caves, bunkers, towers and enemies are all generated randomly. The system is so that it can generate half a million weapons for the entire game. The guys who played the demo even noted that they never got the same weapon twice.

To read more on the Borderlands (PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) demo and the content generation system (and it's worth a read), check out the rest of the images at the full article.

StarCraft 2 scans - Image 1 StarCraft 2 scans - Image 2

German gaming magazine Gamestar got a good chunk of info after getting hands-on with Blizzard's StarCraft 2. Scans and details posted on a German forum generated some buzz, and we know where the posters there are coming from. We're talking hot new details on Terran and Protoss units, as well as other sweet bits you'd want to know about.

The magazine lists some gameplay elements we've known before, along with new ones. Apparently, the production queue is still limited to a maximum of five units. Tall grass and plants will provide cover for smaller units, completely hiding them from view (they still appear on the mini-map). Terrain now features "destroyable elements," like rocks that can be broken to block off ramps. Heroes will be back in single player, but without gaining experience ala Warcraft 3. Instead, they just get special abilities.

These sound great, but the beef of Gamestar's feature is all about the new tweaks to Terran and Protoss. Don't ask us where the love for Zerg is. Find what was posted on the forum after the jump.

Who's your daddy? He is, apparently. - Image 1

As reported, Finnish magazine Pelaaja contained a few screens previewing the latest installment to the iconic post-apocalyptic RPG franchises in PC gaming history, Fallout. And Bethesda's new take Fallout 3 slated for release on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 seems to be serious eye-candy indeed.

After revealing much information of how the game should play out including the introduction of VATS and the return of Karma, there are still many skeptical fans of the franchise who believe that Bethesda could be ruining the whole series with Fallout 3. Bethesda has promised many features will stay faithful to the franchise, perhaps in hopes not to alienate the cult following it has created since Wasteland (oh noes, flashback!).

Unfortunately, only one of the screens shows the VATS system at work and appears to have traded third-person combat for first-person. We can't say if this is exclusive to the VATS mechanic or if all battles play out similarly. How far will Bethesda go with the title? Check out the scans for yourself and give it a thought or two.

Starcraft 2 - PC Gamer scans - Image 2 Starcraft 2 - PC Gamer scans - Image 1

A couple of days back, we reported on the StarCraft 2 details found in PC Gamer. Today, we've got the scans of the said magazines to confirm - and debunk - some of the earlier reports.

The scans are in sweet high res, so we were pretty much able to glean some info from them. Among the most interesting perhaps are the units of each race; some old, other upgraded, and others are completely new. The Protoss units have the bulk of the pages while the Terran and Zerg units got corner spaces; Blizzard probably wants their info under its hat for now. The scans also show some sweet images of the upcoming video game, plus some info on why the sequel took so long.

Well, better start reading - we're sure you'll find something interesting in the scans. In the meantime, we'll go back to scouring the interwebs for more StarCraft 2 news.

Duke Nukem Forever screenshot - Image 1

Some say it's an Octobrain waving its tentacles around, while others say it's some sort of gnarly space worm tearing someone apart while it coils around a building. A few even hazard that it's just Duke firing a shotgun at a tree - a very tall tree at that. Well, whatever it is, the entire gaming community (us writers at QJ included) can't make heads or tails of the latest screenshot of Duke Nukem Forever, as printed in the latest issue of Game Informer - the image in question can be seen above this article. Click to magnify.

It's not really obvious what it is, is it? Of course, we can easily make out the buildings, the lightning, the coiled tentacle-like things sprouting from the building -  yet the central part with what looks like blood spatter (or even alien-esque eyes) is almost impossible to make out. And even eagle-eyed screenshot examiners from the official 3DRealms forums can't pin down just what exactly is being shown, and this fact alone has elicited some mixed reactions about the image - as well as concerns about the title's release date.

Well, how about you, readers? What do you think is in that screenshot? Let us know by your comments.

SimCity 5 revealed soon? - Image 1How's your megalomania been for the past few months, eh? Satiated? Well, we all want to be godly every once in a while - oversee the populace, create buildings, run the place, and all that jazz. Now, you just might get a healthy dose of it soon... IF this rumor turns out to be true.

Surfacing in the NeoGaf forums is a scan of the latest magazine issue of "Games for Windows" and splashed across the front cover is a supposed SimCity. Looks like the simulation franchise is getting a fifth installment from Maxis.

Now, this here scan is a bit iffy. We started scrounging up the net for any more updates on this, but it seems as if no one knows where the scan came from - no one even knows if it's the latest/current issue or a coming issue for next month. To make things worse, the scan isn't much of a scan but more of... a thumbnail. Yep, the biggest size of the pic is what you see on your right - making it harder to confirm other details on the cover.

We're taking this with a godly-sized grain of salt. But for what it's worth, Electronic Arts did confirm some time back that a new SimCity game was being developed.
