Blizzard is well known for their release policy of "it's done when it's done". Some people may balk at the open-endedness of this schedule, but really, with the high quality of products they are known to make, no one is in the position to complain or to dare challenge them to go faster -- not even Activision. But when StarCraft II does release, you can rest assured it's gonna be thoroughly polished, enough to earn Activision Blizzard as much as US$ 40 million in its opening quarter. Just ask the analysts.

The fans are not pleased with Blizzard's decision to not have LAN multiplayer in StarCraft II. And as with any other dissatisfied fans, they went online and created a petition to convince Blizzard to do otherwise.

Planning a LAN party to celebrate the launch of StarCraft II (whenever that is)? You can still do that, but you'll all have to be connected to Battle.Net first. Blizzard has confirmed that the upcoming RTS game will not support LAN play to further build up Battle.Net as the multiplayer solution for their games. That, and to combat piracy.

We all know that the StarCraft II beta is all set to run this summer, although we do not know a specific date for it yet. Now thanks to an email sent out by Blizzard this weekend, we now know that it's near -- very near.

Blizzard has updated their Starcraft 2 Map Maker Series over at their official forums, revealing that the map editor will indeed be included in the beta, however, not from the onset. More info await after the jump.

Now this holidays ought to be the holiday to look out for, if Mike Morhaime stays true to his word. Speaking at a Pre-E3 conference call, the Blizzard president revealed that they actually have their eyes set on having an end-of-the-year release for Starcraft 2.

The best part about this news? It's not a rumor as it came straight from Blizzard president, Mike Morhaime, himself.
