Call of Duty by Activision - Image 1

Treyarch, the video game development company under Activision responsible for three Call of Duty titles, is searching for level builders to work on the said franchise. There's no info about what's next for the popular first-person shooter series, but the mention of World War II on the job ad spurred speculations.

The game developer posted requirements that applicants will have to meet to be involved in development of "an industry leading First-Person Shooter action war franchise" and added that fans of WWII shooters are preferred.

Under Treyarch's banner are entries to the Call of Duty franchise like Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One, and Call of Duty 3. It wouldn't be surprising if the developer decides to use its expertise in WWII-based games for its next project, and we find it hard to imagine a Call of Duty 4: '40s Warfare spin-off. Will Call of Duty 5 go back to its roots of beach invasions and Nazis?

It would be a huge Mistake, WWII shooters are played out. they need to stay rooted in the present day. I know it would seem that they need to try something different but Ive put a lot of thought into it, GRAW has the not too distant future so I dont thing going even further in time would be good unless it was a hundred years or so. that would be interesting.

Haven't Activision learned from COD3 that Infinity Ward is the way to go?

 » No one ever learns.

This is absurd. With the HUGE ratings the CoD4 got, they're going to be stupid and NOT pay attention at all?

This is why companies go bankrupt, because they don't listen to what their own consumers are saying.

Activision should continue the story of Soap McTavish, I want to see how far up the military scale he makes it, even though he never said anything, (being you, of course), he was still a likable character.

Stupid game studios/developers.

» You're all missing the point

The point is, Treyarch SUCKS HORRIBLY as a developer. The problem with CoD3 wasnt the fact that it was another WW2 game. It was that its gameplay was horrible, it suffered horrible online issues and the like. Also it didnt look that good at all. PLEASE DO NOT LET Treyarch RUIN THE CALL OF DUTY SERIES!@# THEY DO NOT MAKE GAMES WHICH LIVE UP TO THE QUALITY EXPECTATIONS THAT INFINITY WARD HAS SET!@#

 » SCREW THAT

Back to WW2?? WTF they had 3 games based on WW2 already aren't they sick of doing it themselves? Jeez COD4 was amazing considering they kept all the mechanics. But i honestly enjoyed the modern warfare more than world war 2 scenarios. For real, they shouldn't even consider going back to WW2
