There will be an ultimate assassin. This much you can expect from Ubisoft as a rep in E3 affirms that Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) is but the second in an intended trilogy. Said the Ubi rep, "It's always been planned to be a trilogy, and Desmond is going back [in time, using the Animus] to [eventually] become the ultimate assassin. Can't tell you any more, though." Assassin's Creed 2 is expected to arrive on November 17, 2009. Related Assassin's Creed 2 Articles:

Tell me about it man, Even if someone had completed the game they should figure out that there's going to be atleast a sequel or two.
But seriously the announcement of AC as a trilogy was before AC's release date.

Someone hasn't been following game coverage. Ubisoft has been workin with the gaming communities to right the wrongs of the first game (the repetitive nature, the free roaming outside of cities being too constricted and other things) so before you go getting all ignorantly disappointed it wouldn't hurt for you to read some impressions and articles.
Anyway, Ubi said that when the first game came out, since it was so successful all the fans knew it was only a matter of time. Also with all the mention of abilities bleeding over to the host and Desmond gaining some of Altair's abilities, I think it was obvious it was only a matter of time before you were playing as an Assassin in modern day settings. But I suppose its always good to hear things reaffirmed...?

Too bad I lost all interest after the first crap-fest.
How about this?
Make a non-overrated game, possibly give credit to people other than Jade Raymond, and release it.
If people care about it, then release a second and possibly a third. Why do so many crappy games have trilogies?
