THQ announces Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm - Image 1

If Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, StarCraft 2, and Empire: Total War wasn't enough to satisfy players' appetites for tactical brain-twisting, then THQ's got another real-time strategy game serving. This time, it's got Warhammer 40,000 sprinkled all over it. Welcome Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm for Windows PCs worldwide.

The new standalone installment will introduce two more races (including the Dark Eldar) into the feuding seven of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and will take elements of previous installments for a strategic facelift. Coupled with new airborne units and a planetary-wide strategic meta-game, players will have to wield new additional units to conquer an entire star system.

Soulstorm will also include multiplayer medals (Command & Conquer-ish, EA's later generation) as awards to the most skillful of tactical and strategic commanders. So keep glued to this space while the game ushers itself toward a Spring 2008 release, by none other than RTS veterans Relic Entertainment.

Warhammer 40000 - Image 1THQ announced today that the RTS series of Relic Entertainment's Epic Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is now available in one cool package, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Platinum Edition.

What's in store for you here in this collection would be the complete installments of the franchise, and with a content-packed bonus DVD that features playable demos of three more THQ Windows PC titles to boot. So that's basically a steal, since the PC titles are highly-lauded in themselves: Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, and Titan Quest. The price for this steal deal? US$ 39.99. Not bad, eh? Not bad, indeed.

Says Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for THQ,

THQ's Relic Entertainment has created three blockbuster titles set in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe, establishing the series as one of the most popular RTS franchises worldwide. Bringing the titles together into one collector's platinum edition is a must-have for any RTS enthusiast.
