Ó

Modern Warfare 2 now selling - Image 1The official launch of Modern Warfare 2 is only a couple of snoozes away, but apparently, it just can't wait. Another game has its street date broken again, frustrating people who haven't gotten in on those early purchases. One retailer raking in the dough out of this whole deal is GameStop, whose outlets in the Northeastern states have started selling Modern Warfare 2.

Kotaku reports that GameStops in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio have already begun selling the game. According to a GameStop employee from Bowling Green, Ohio, Activision actually gave them special permission to start selling early in order to win customers back from street-breaking mom-and-pop stores. Some have reported that they have received copies as early as last week.

Modern Warfare 2 is (apparently) available now (in some areas) for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. But you've probably known that for a few days, yes?

Senseless. At least for the PC Version because you can't activiate the game until its officially released.

Although I saw this coming, I'm still kinda pissed, I paid for release date delivery and yet people already has the game, kinda killed the point of paying for rdd.

 » wow

way to put the gamestop and employee on blast
i asked the guys at my gamestop if i could have it early and they said as soon as they ring it up and hit ok it will email corporate office and they will be in trouble

Some guy in France has been playing it on PS3 for the past two weeks, and I was just watching another German guy play it on Ps3 today via justin.tv. A 360 player was also on justin.tv.

PS3 guy was showing off Spec Ops mode and 360 guy was playing online.

 » In Maryland also

I was in a Gamestop Saturday afternoon and they were already selling copies and had even gotten in touch with some of those who pre-ordered. Why have release dates of you are gonna change them, just let the stores sell them as soon as they get them.

 » Whatever

I'll take my $20 Amazon and $20 Walmart gift cards (buying two copies) over getting the game a few days early

 » hmmm

I guess this is one of Activision's techniques to make players drool in anticipation and make them buy the copies.

 » BTW

The picture is their copy of the game and our empty box after we sold out...twice.

This only happened as a repercussion to the multiple times Gamestop has tried to get us into trouble. they send in people.(we know who they are too) and have them buy copies of games we sell "early" and try to get us into trouble. ask ANY gamestop employee these tools are encouraged to do this too!!! also sorry to Kristen it was nothing against her we just wanted to post that pic asap

here in singapore, 10 nov start selling

   by napsac41 - 2009-11-09
» I hope they do reset all of your stats.

no offense to any of you cause its not really your fault the stores sold it early but i was hoping that i could at least rank up to a good position on the leader boards. i was going to try for top 100. if only for a min. im not that good. hah. but if the stats arn't reset it kinda defeats the purpose of online play and is going to ruin it for ppl who want to compete cause we're already going to be so far behind in stats. :[

   Re: nickelwise - 2009-11-09
 » uhh

first of all, if you aren't that good, you're not gonna make top 100. no matter how early you get the game there is probably going to be 100 people who got it before you. second, it's not like the people who got it a few days before you are going to have some insane avantage. a few days of not playing the game will not put you eons behind... are you really planning on playing this game for hours a day every single day for the next few months? you're gonna be taking breaks for a few days
