Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East demo charges online - Image 1

The newest stand-alone expansion to the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise has hit online download sites, or at least the demo, and fans of the series may finally try out the new Orc race that bundles with Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East. The download stands at a little less than 1 GB of data, and should be a great diversion for PC turn-based strategists.

The demo from Ubisoft will take players through a key episode in the Orc campaign - the invasion of the Griffin Empire. Players will guide Gotai, the young Orc warlord tasked with this mission, and attempt to build cities, recruit new units, and take the fight to the enemy, which would include toe-to-toe battles with brand new creatures.

Going massive? - Image 1

Ubisoft apparently has plans to expand the Might and Magic franchise into the world of MMORPGs, that is, if you think that the words "Worlds of" implies that.

Gamespot reports that a quick trip to the US Patent and Trademark Office Web Site reveals that Ubisoft has an application for a trademark on the phrase "Worlds of Might and Magic" and that the patent is in relation to online gaming services. The application was filed last November.

When contacted, a representative from Ubisoft says that he hadn't heard of it before (plans for MMO), and adds that the phrase has actually been trademarked since way back in 1999, when defunct publisher 3DO filed for it for use in an online game.Ubisoft is the last listed owner on that trademark, which, according to the USPTO site, is still live.

Wideload Games also has around three applications for trademarks. The development studio behind Stubbs the Zombie have trademarks filed for Founding Fighters, Hail to the Chimp, and Cyclone.

We all have to keep in mind though that these trademarks were filed just for the names of the games and is not an indication that the games are actively under development.

packshotIf, for some very twisted reason, you were expecting to find dwarf and dragon porn in this post, sorry but you're awfully mistaken. The assets we're talking about here are the packshot for the upcoming RPG Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate and a new dwarf trailer.

Hardcore PC gamers might already be familiar with this fantasy turn-based strategy series from Nival Entertainment, but for those not in the know, the Heroes of Might & Magic series allows users to take on roles as leaders of armies of mythical creatures such as harpies, unicorns, vampires, and dragons.

All the titles under the said series are based on the same mythical universe except for this upcoming one, and to make it stand out even further, Hammers of Fate is the first offering in the series to be rendered in full 3D environments. It will also feature all-new skill, spell, and creature systems.

Anyhoo, the reason why we're here today is to bring you a new Dwarf trailer for the game. For Heroes neophytes, this'll give you a good quick-see of what the game is like and how the Hammers of Fate add-on it plays out.

Currently slated for release by Ubisoft on November 14th, the Hammers of Fate add-on will include a new faction, new missions, new spells and NPCs, a random map generator, and tons more. And as usual, we will keep you posted for more and any developments so keep it here, alrighty? *winks*
