Hmm, ready for another submarine sim? Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific from Ubisoft is right about ready to leave port and we have a trailer for you to see what's coming up. Or down.

Silent Hunter fans would already know this but we'll give a quick introduction to the uninitiated. The Silent Hunter series takes us back in time to World War II. The first one covered the Pacific War and players controlled a US Navy submarine. Two and three allowed players to command a German U-boat in the Second Battle of the Atlantic. Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific gets players back in the Pacific and straight into the greatest sea battles.

Anyway, we found a recent trailer of Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific floating around in YouTube from UbiRulz. The video shows in game footage and some documentary footage of the real events in World War II. We'll quit babbling now and leave you to watch it. Enjoy!

Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific packshot - Image 1Been itching to get your hands on Ubisoft's Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific, eh? Yeah, same here.

But even though we'd have to wait a few more days 'til the game hits shelves on March 13, you'll be glad to know that the game has reached gold status and it's only a matter of time before it starts shipping to stores.

Now, just in case you aren't aware yet, the Ubisoft Romania- developed sim game for the PC will come in three versions. And to help you decide which one to get, we're gonna share with you the following details we scored via GameInformer:
  • Standard Edition - includes the game (duh) and manual, map of the Pacific Ocean, and a quick Reference Card.
  • Collector's Edition - includes all the stuff found in the Standard Edition PLUS the soundtrack, the official iron-on arm patch of the game, and a Recognition Manual which contains the technical specs of all 88 war machines in the game.
  • Deluxe Edition - this is limited to 3,000 copies worldwide and is exclusively available for purchase through Ubisoft's site. It also includes the following goodies:
    • the game on PC DVD-ROM, the manual, a quick reference card and a map of the Pacific Ocean
    • Deluxe Recognition Manual but with additional 20 pages of content
    • a 145-page booklet with leather-style cover, complete with a metal pen marked with the game logo
    • exclusive DVD documentary with 60 minutes of rare footage, including 3 U.S. Navy films tracing the stages of the Pacific War
    • a Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific medal in its presentation box
    • the original soundtrack of the game, official iron-on arm patch, an exclusive mouse pad, 6 unique postcards, and a numbered certificate of authenticity
Hardcore followers of the Silent Hunter series would probably get the Deluxe Edition, but for those who are just getting into the groove of the game and are on a mere exploratory mode, you have the choice of getting the Collector's Edition or the Standard one. But then again that's just us, in the end it's you who has to decide. So anyway, Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific should dock on U.S. ports on March 15, with a European release on June 30.
