It looks like Chris Taylor and his army at Gas Powered Games were keeping another secret, and if it weren't for a recently conducted interview, the mind behind THQ's Supreme Commander wouldn't have revealed the ultimate real-time strategy title as another surprise. Though it was revealed that Supreme Commander would probably arrive on Microsoft's Xbox 360 first, there is also hope that Gas Powered Games could deliver it to the Sony PlayStation 3. "You've almost made me confess that we're working on it... No, actually you have. That's good. I like that. This is a secret I want to share," said Taylor, after expounding on Gas Powered Games' efforts to create a friendly interface for console strategists. What's more is that the previously unveiled Space Siege, a sci-fi rehash of Dungeon Siege (think Rebelmind Games' Space Hack or Silverback Entertainment's Harbinger), will also come with console-friendly versions next year. Currently, Taylor views the Microsoft Xbox 360 as the current "platform of choice" for pushing PC games out to consoles, because of the least amount of finances involved in development. He still remains hopeful that Sony PlayStation 3 versions will soon follow, due to added developer feedback and a larger install base in the near future. News on whether the stand-alone expansion Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance will also hit consoles or not, or if a Space Siege Nintendo Wii version will be considered has yet to surface. There are speculations, however, that this move may be the result of THQ trying to cash in on its current published intellectual properties after witnessing a lackluster Q2 financial performance. |

Philips has teamed-up with Gas Powered Games to release an amBX Supreme Commander bundle. This is the perfect chance to pick-up a copy of both the game and the amBX Gaming Peripherals, if you haven't already done so.The Philips amBX PC Gaming Peripherals is a very big package. It includes a pair of left and right satellite lights capable of projecting 16 million different colours, a pair of left and right satellite 2.1 speaker lights and subwoofer which offer 160-watt multi-directional sound and bass boost, a pair of desk fans, a wrist rumbler, and a directional wall washer light with controller unit. Each of the different peripherals will be put to good use in Supreme Commander as the General Manager for New Business Development at Philips Consumer Electronics, Engelbert van Pelt, noted in the recent press release: Supreme Commander is the perfect title to accompany and showcase the Philips amBX Gaming Peripherals effects. Supreme Commander’s real-time strategy game play will maximise the lighting, wind and rumble effects that the Philips amBX PC Gaming Peripherals are capable of delivering. War gaming has never been so realistically scary. IT certainly looks sounds like a sweet addition to any gamer's arsenal. If it works exactly as described, then this bundle will be on every PC Gamer's wish list this holiday season. |

Big whoop, whoop for "teh development gods" at Gas Powered Games. They've finally announced the release of the latest of patches, version 1.3254 or just v3254, for all versions of THQ-published Supreme Commander. And although there were many big fixes listed for this major hotfix, the biggest news of all is that the five second death ish is finally gone. And we mean slain dead. Budding Napoleons who take hours on end to strategize the perfect assault might want to rethink their strategies a bit. There's a lot of other fixes that could change the tide of battle against them or buy them a little more time to stop an all-out assault dead-cold. We'd enumerate them here, but then strategies of some players may get revealed, so instead we'll list the entire patch note's change list and leave you to make the necessary testing and adjustments as needed. Click on Full Article to read the entire list of changes in the new patch. |

Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander has a new patch coming out - and guess what - a lot of changes have been implemented. Most of the changes were more for gameplay balance purposes, and it looks like they're trying to even the field for all players. So what can we expect from the patch? Well, they've said that map props have been changed so that everyone starts more or less on even ground. In addition to that, starting points and Mass-Extractor locations have been moved in all ranked maps. (No more "you were in a better position" arguments!) Finally, for those who noticed the malfunctioning assist icon (when you place your mouse cursor over a Quantum Gateway) they've fixed that problem as well. There are just too many balance details for us to cover in this article. If you want to read about all the changes they plane on implementing, just click on our read link. |

It's nothing close to a Supreme Commander port for the next-gen console, but at least Gas Powered Games and "games industry rock star" Chris Taylor is looking to release future titles for next-gen consoles. In an interview with Games Industry, Chris Taylor revealed that GPG was "gassing" up for more title releases aimed at the PC and next-gen consoles. In fact, a Gas Powered Games ad said, "Projects include PC titles within the Supreme Commander franchise, PC titles with original IP and something new – an original IP that is the company's first next-generation console project." The problem is, there wasn't any mention of what the title was or which among the next-gen console the title will be shipping to. Taylor said, "Yeah, I just can't announce it. I'll tell you it's a console game, but I can't tell you anything else right now." But upon review of the advertisement, you can be sure that the console title will not be a Supreme Commander or Dungeon Siege port. For PC gamers, looks like we're going to have to visit Newegg for some much-needed upgrades, because Taylor has his eyes on the high-end platforms for the newer titles...again. He particularly hinted, "The PC - I think later this year we're going to see incredible systems that just take off. The multi-cores, the 64bit OS... Imagine a gaming rig with eight gigs of RAM and a one or two gig video card. It's just super exciting." But because it took him about three years to develop the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation (released 1997), you can bet there's a lot of time for price drops, tech changes, and penny-pinching before the next titles do come out. |

Strategy fans clamor around stores to grab a copy of Supreme Commander, the newly released masterpiece from Gas Powered Games, which according to NPD has outsold Blizzard's World of Warcraft for the week February 18 to February 24. The supreme strategy title published by THQ sits on the number two spot on NPD's weekly Best Selling PC Games list.
Supreme Commander, one of two titles contending for the throne of real-time strategy for the year 2007, is a strategy behemoth that's big. Literally. We mean it's eight gigs, needs big processing power, sports big units, big ambitions, big egos behind it and it's up against big (sneaky?) competition. The top 10 best selling PC games for the week February 18 through 24 are:

We all know that it's common promotional practice to send advance copies of their games to Gaming publications for review. But to accept a bribe to give a game a low score? That's something else right there. An article on Gameworld Network glances over the buzz surrounding the supposed controversial review of Supreme Commander written by GamePro's Australian division. What arises suspicion here is that most other reviews have given the game reasonable reviews. Scores average from 80 to 90 percent. However, GamePro Australia's review gave the game a score of 5/10 with remarks like "virtually unplayable" and "saddest moment in history of the genre" found within the review. The rumor is that Electronic Arts - whose Command and Conquer 3 ships at the end of the month - the competition of Supreme Commander developers Gas Powered Games, allegedly offered a large bribe to GamePro Australia in exchange for a low score for Supreme Commander. It used to be the perception that companies paid for decent review scores for mediocre games they've made. Now it's much, much worse. Saddest moment in the history of the genre our asses. If this is rumor true, then it definitely doesn't look good for the whole industry. The truly horrific part is that others are starting to think that this has happened before. What about you folks? What games in recent memory do you think got an unreasonably low score? Who do you think was responsible for it? Also, if you're interested at going over the recent rivalry between the two titles, click here. |

Gas Powered Games sure is one of the few teams that we can say are really focused on making their products better. Why? Well, it's only been weeks since they released their RTS for the PC, Supreme Commander, and yet rumors are already coming out about working on an expansion and now, they're working on a patch that will reportedly have some Google-maps style feature.According to FiringSquad, the dev team has reportedly built a map of Earth through which players will be able to access and join multiplayer matches in progress by clicking on various map locations where they are taking place. The map will also show the status of multiplayer matches as well as the game's current top 10 players. Chris Taylor has described the map as "a way to visualize the worldwide community, really showing where these people are." At a recent THQ press event, Taylor also dropped hints on another game already cooking up in Gas Powered Games' labs. No details yet but rest assured we'll keep you posted. . |

The game Supreme Commander developed by Gas Powered Games and published by THQ is considered by many to be the "Spiritual Successor" of the cult classic Total Annihilation. The game features units of different sizes, though what we will be focusing on are the end game behemoths. So far, three large units have managed to catch our (and IGN's) attention.
Armored Command Unit (ACU): The ACU serves as a command center, barracks, and upgrade hub all in one giant package of pwnage. The scary thing is, you can actually use this as a mobile weapon of destruction once it's been upgraded. After undergoing the multiple upgrades at its disposal, this baby can actually dominate a map when used with the proper support units.Possible Upgrades
