Massive Entertainment recently announced that it would be putting up a World in Conflict Broadcast Tool this coming Monday, October 15. The broadcast tool, they announced, would allow Vista and DX10 users a whole new dimension in manipulating camera angles for spectators, and would also allow for the recording of matches. According to Massive Entertainment, the Broadcast Tool is a free downloadable add-on meant for Vista users which would give them "easy-to-use television-style broadcast options - such as pre-set and custom cameras, follow-cameras, telestration and other capabilities - that will turn any LAN game or tournament into a fun-to-watch spectator event." Also, the broadcast tool will allow gamers to record a full match, which they can share with friends and fellow gamers alike. Said Martin Walfisz, founder and president of Massive Entertainment, We wanted to make it easy for World in Conflict fans to turn this awesome experience into the best spectator game ever. Some of the team members at Massive have a background in the TV industry, so anyone who has ever seen a TV production room will recognize the set up immediately. The World in Conflict Broadcast Tool will make watching - or broadcasting - gaming competitions exciting and fun. |

Massive Entertainment is cooking up a huge patch for its unique real-time strategy game, World in Conflict, that should go live later this week. Current players will be happy to find some balancing tweaks, while annoying bugs that will soon be gone won't be missed. Nifty features are also coming to pimp out your profile. The best part for hardcore PC gamers though, would have to be the performance upgrades for DirectX10 video cards. When the patch comes, your player profile will have a guest book, the option to add a motto, and even include web-links. Other useful features added are auto-kick of idle players and the ability to kick players that don't play nice. Those who are hammered out of the server can also be banned. Of course, there's also something from the patch for high-end machines and their owners who want visuals that make the purchase of expensive graphic cards worth it. Performance on DirectX10 cards are supposed to improve, and we're hoping that means more than a minor framerate fix. Even if real-time strategy games isn't your cup of tea, Massive Entertainment's latest and hottest World in Conflict (Xbox 360, PC) video game is set to entice you into joining the battlefield. In an interview with Guardian Unlimited, lead game designer Magnus Jansen discussed why Massive's latest title should be able to attract non-hardcore gamers. At first glance, anyone will fall in love with the game's gorgeous graphics. Not only are the graphics easy on the eyes, it's also a cinch to jump into the action. As Jansen said himself, World in Conflict is free of conventional RTS elements such as base-building and resource management to focus more on fast paced combat. Instead of giving players the role of commander, World in Conflict offers immersion through characters involved in an engrossing storyline. "We wanted to tell this story through our characters. We're very happy with the end result, and expect that many players will want to play through the single-player campaign," said Jansen. While multiplayer opens a big window for cooperative team play, Jansen mentioned how single player doesn't fall behind. Maps, units, and balancing come in equal doses for both game modes; solo campaigns just offer less units to choose from in some cases, but that's to "give the player a taste of all branches of the military." When asked what educational benefits World in Conflict has to offer, Jansen pointed out that the game wasn't designed to be informative. Some lessons can be learned from realistic weapons, vehicles, and locations players will be indulging in, but Jansen made it clear that Massive Entertainment aims for "entertaining and captivating games." He stressed out how World in Conflict is "not just a game for gamers who consume strategy games on a daily basis." RTS fanatics don't have to fret though, because the game is not closing doors on the hardcore. "To what extent it will reach out beyond this core community is still unsure," Jansen continued. |

Whatever faith we ascribe to in life, it has the power to pull us through any curve ball the world can throw our way - even if that curve ball turns out to be a global war that has the potential to wipe us off the face of the planet. We see this fact being demonstrated in the latest trailer video of Massive Entertainment's World In Conflict(PC, XBox 360).
In this video trailer, we see a man preaching energetically to those currently trapped between the two opposing sides of the war. While the visuals themselves are strikingly lifelike, it's the emotional effect that's quite prominent in this video - with the preacher singing to an invisible audience, in time to an invisible choir. The synch between the music and the animation is incredible, and is definitely a must watch for those of us who fancy something a bit more deeper than just the usual gameplay. Embed's below, you know what to do. Enjoy! Buy: [World in Conflict (Xbox 360)] Buy: [World in Conflict (PC)] |
