It's been a long time since we've heard anything from the ambitious, lore-rich Elveon or news of its adaptation to Windows, Microsoft's Xbox 360, and (surprise!) Sony's PlayStation 3. Has the action RPG of Elven influence been shelved? That's a negatory, bub. The project apparently changed hands, and Elveon now has hopes of entering the gaming fray in 2009 thanks to the independent game company, Climax Group. Learn more about the switcheroo at the full story. |

Julian Eggebrecht, Factor 5 president and lead director, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for the GC Developers Conference (GCDC) 2007 in Leipzig (also known as the Leipzig Games Convention). Details of his speech have yet to be revealed, but we can expect it to be interesting at the very least. Factor 5 is currently working on the PS3-exclusive game Lair. Peter Molyneux, Lionhead Studios' president, will also be giving a keynote focusing on the company's classic games. The GCDC 2007 will be held from August 20 to 22 in Leipzig, Germany. Other GCDC 2007 international speakers will include:

Achtung Panzer! Screenshots for the game Codename Panzers: Cold War by developer Stormregion and publisher 10tacle Studios were released March 8, 2007. Codename Panzers and the Cold War. A little backstory on the game: it's set in the early 1950’s with the Cold War still raging in full force. With Stalin commanding it, the Red Army has undergone a tremendous expansion at the end of the World War II. They have been waiting for an opportunity to extend their territory to the West by attacking NATO. Then an airplane accident happens over Tempelhof Airport during the Berlin Blockade. The tragic collision of an American airplane carrying relief goods with a Russian fighter plane costs not only the lives of both crews. Codename Panzers screenshots. The screenshots show off the power of the completely reworked Gepard3 (Gepard is German for cheetah) graphics engine. The graphics are decent, but we think that the driving force behind this game will not really be the graphics (or any technical aspect of the game) but will be the story line and the (hopefully) engaging RTS gameplay that might set this game apart from the rest. The game is set to be distributed throughout Europe by Electronic Arts and is due to be released for the PC in the fourth quarter of 2007. The Full Article has more screenshots. |

The first release of Ready 2 Rumble, a boxing game, for the Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, and Nintendo 64 in 1999 had many players calling it the new Punch-out. The second iteration was released for multiple systems as well and was called Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2.One of the main draws of this series is a special move all the boxers possess called a Rumble Flurry. You spell the world "RUMBLE" by continuously pounding on your opponent, and once it's fully spelled out you can unleash the Rumble Flurry. They also include boxers who mimic famous personalities (Like Bill Clinton in Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2). This game developed a cult following and is considered by some to be a classic. Singapore subsidiary 10TACLE STUDIOS Pte Ltd. together with licensor, The Buffer Partnership and executive producer Stereo Mode, are currently making the third iteration of Ready 2 Rumble. It is being developed for multiple platforms, although there is no word on which platforms they will be on. We hope that they include current famous personalities in the latest version. Still, despite all the gimmicks they will add, one has to wonder how it will fare against the boxing games that are currently in the market. |

Command and Conquer: Red Alert isn't the only "alternate World War II" RTS game around. With War Front: Turning Point shipping to stores, players will get the chance to command the German war engine... after killing off Hitler and replacing him with someone more competent. He has to be someone more competent if the game will feature SUPERWEAPONS. All that little pineapple-sucking ("Little Nicky" reference) corporal could do was just daydream, survive bomb plots, and run his regime and his country into the ground. Here are the newest screens of this explosive game developed by 10Tacle Studios and published by CDV Software Entertainment. |

10Tacle Studios and CDV Software Entertainment has just released a new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi RTS, War Front: Turning Point. And this time, the Germans take front seat as they reveal their high and mighty weapons, which include jetpacks, Super-Zeppelins, and the Exoskeletons -- the futuristic ginormous robotic weapon that's sure to wreak major havoc in your camps should you opt not to choose the Germans' side. Kinda makes you rethink about going against the Nazis, eh? Hahaha. For those not in the know, Turning Point is set in WWII (how the exoskeletons got to WWII, we will never know) but for a change, we won't be seeing any of Hitler here. Instead, the German war engine has been sieged under the control of a new regime (headed by no less than you, dear PC gamer). So in this sense, Turning Point actually offers us to alter the course of history by placing US in control of a powerful regime. So if you've got any dictatorial tendencies bottled up inside you, here's where you can vent 'em all out soldier. See the image above? Those are exoskeletons, not so cool in still-life, aren't they? So if you wanna see them, and a whole buncha other destructive weapons at the Germans' disposal, at work, just click on play and see the destruction unfold. Enjoy! |

Some of you guys must be asking, "Elveon? What in blazes is that?" Not much is known of the game so far, and frankly, the hype isn't as great as any of the other current next-gen games out there. We decided to do some prodding of our own once again and managed to squeeze out all the new juicy info from 10tacles Studios about their upcoming action RPG for the 360 and PC. If you thought that this title wasn't worth a second glance, then you better own up. After reading the transcript of this interview with Managing Director Slavo Hazucha from Studio Slovakia, you might actually start to think that Elveon could potentially be one of the biggest games of next year. We're thanking our good man Slavo and the whole of 10tacle Studios for allowing us to have this interview. And if we had to some it up in one word, it'd have to be "epic." We got to talk about Tolkien, the Unreal Engine 3, martial artists, prophecies, gods, the world of Naon, and some hints of a possible sequel in the future... So you've probably downloaded the multiplayer demo, and we take it you've been havin' fun blowing up your friends' base camps to smithereens, eh? Well now, 10Tacle and CDV USA have also announced the launch of their brand spanking new website for this upcoming game, War Front: Turning Point.
The new site now has a new look and feel, along with updated English and German-language discussion forums. Watch out also for the new videos, screens, dev commentary, and other game goodies that they'll soon be putting up on the site. For those who haven't been following the game, it basically answers these what-if's: what if Hitler had been assassinated early on in WWII? What if the Nazi war engine was controlled by a different regime (in this case that'll be YOUR regime)? In this sense, Digital Reality aims to bringing PC gamers a real-time strategy game that lets them explore an "alternate history" as they take control of Hitler's military arsenal and consequently alter the course of history. The game is still currently brewing in Digital Reality labs and is scheduled for a North American release on February 19, 2007. You can check out this new site by clicking on the read link below. Meanwhile, feast your eyes on these droolworthy screens we have for you. |
