ArmA: Armed Assault - Image 1Listen up, machinima addicts! To celebrate the upcoming UK release of ArmA: Armed Assault on PC, Bohemia Interactive and New Media Maze have joined forces to launch the ArmA: Armed Assault Trailer Maker. This Flash-based little doodad will let all of you aspiring filmmakers out there make your own trailer for ArmA: Armed Assault.

Using cutting edge machinima technology, you are able to cut and mix up video clips from the UK version of ArmA: Armed Assault and add in audio clips and sound effects lifted right out of the game. Finally, you can add title screens, credits and special effects to your trailer to complete your spin on the ArmA: Armed Assault trailer. After that, you can publish your trailer and put it on your site, blog, or forum.

I've tried it out myself and it's actually quite fun. You can only work on a linear timeline, but you can still overlap audio tracks and video effects the way you can when you're working on a multi-track timeline. You can check out the Trailer Maker by logging on to www.armatrailermaker.com.

ArmA: Armed Assault will hit UK stores on February 16.

ArmA - Image 7

Armed Assault
(ArmA) from Bohemia Interactive is an online war-is-hell FPS game that combines realism, tactics, and strategy. To survive the game, players must rely on the same skills required to survive real-life battles: the piercing eyesight of a hawk, the instincts of Patton, and a sharp strategic mind of Sun Tzu.

Thanks to ArmA's new engine, wannabe war heroes get to experience the ultimate realistic combat simulation based on technology used to train U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army and Australian Defense Forces. The game environment is spread over 400 sq km and infiltrated by enemy intelligence ready to outmaneuver you. Your mission is to stay alive and keep your soldiers from eating enemy bullets.

ArmA features:
  • Large selection of playable military and civilian gear and vehicles
  • Fight for freedom in a brand new storyline
  • New map covering over 400 sq. km, in extreme detail
  • New revamped game engine
  • Comprehensive multiplayer support with join in progress
  • Customizable game with built-in mission editor
ArmA: Armed Assaultis scheduled for release in first quarter 2007.
