Nothing major is really happening console-side this week. The console versions of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel are finally seeing a release after a few delays and the subsequent bankruptcy of game developer Ascaron. Wii owners, meanwhile, get Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus and Help Wanted. On the handheld side of things, the Sony PSP gets no love at all. The DS gets some, at least, but it's aimed mostly towards the 12 and under set. Strategy gamers on a budget should check out the PC releases, though. There are a couple of good games in there.

Sacred was a good hack-and-slash game in its own right, so we're actually quite excited to see what the sequel has in store for people. Fans of real-time strategy games In North America who can never get enough of World War II-based carnage have something to look forward to, because cdv Software Entertainment USA just announced that it inked a deal with Battlefront.com to finally ship Theatre of War stateside. Ascaron Entertainment, makers of Sacred, probably won't be making playable demonstrations of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel as an exclusive gig at the Leipzig Convention anymore. The news on the press waves is the cdv Software Entertainment, the new publishers of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, has announced that a playable version of the much awaited RPG sequel will be present at 2008's Game Developers Conference. Good news to the lucky hopefuls of Ascaron's upcoming Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (Xbox 360, PC). Even though the release of this game has been delayed, the game is definitely on its way to shelves since cdv Software Entertainment America has agreed to publish the game this year. cdv Software Entertainment USA and Focus Home Interactive have announced that a new demo for their upcoming PC title Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is now out and about and ready for your downloading pleasure.

The demo contains roughly an hour's worth of gameplay and weighs in at around 495MB. It'll give players a firsthand look at how Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will go as they investigate crime scenes, interview witnesses and search for and examine various clues.

The full game will, of course, offer deeper and more complex mysteries that those found in the demo. If you're looking for this sort of puzzling and mind-chilling adventure, be sure to check out the game when it hits retail outlets in the U.S. on September 4. Sirius Games and cdv Software Entertainment's Escape from Paradise City looks to be a very interesting game. Set in an urban landscape torn apart by criminal activity, the game sets you on a mission to infiltrate the criminal underworld and become the ultimate crime boss by taking out the competition.

The game is said to have an "intertwining chapter-driven story." This pretty much means that the player takes turns controlling one of three characters who are each trying to solve the mystery behind the controlling crime syndicate’s power. The final boss of the game has been described as "more than your average thug - or average human." It's probably worth a playthrough just to find out what the press release meant by that.

Escape from Paradise City is slated to ship in North America on September 24. We'll probably be hearing more from this game as we creep closer to this date, so keep checking back for more.
