Take out your deerstalker hats, your magnifying glasses, and your pipes (though that last thing is optional) and set out on another adventure with detective Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened.

This upcoming video game from Frogwares Studios delves into a dark mystery which concerns supernatural events. Well, Sherlock Holmes is on the case and we all know he's always bent on solving those that come to his attention. The new screenshots we have feature the dark and creepy world of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, as well as some other friendlier locations to be found in game. Okay, so they don't look very friendly but it sure beats a place with a corpse.

Anyway, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will be coming to these shores in a couple months so if you're interested in solving a mystery, watch out for more news. In the meantime, check out the screenshots.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened packshot - Image 1The game's afoot and who better to solve the mystery than the great fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes himself? Frogwares Studios' third Sherlock Holmes video game will also be distributed by CDV Software Entertainment along with Focus Home Interactive.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will center on the detective tackling a mystery surrounding supernatural events concerning the Old Gods. It has mixed the elements of the Cthulhu mythos and the classic mystery solving of Arthur Conan Doyle's great detective. Reportedly, the game will be on a first person perspective (which will certainly bring the sense of being immersed in the game) but will still have the point and click elements of the previous adventure games.

This PC game will be stalking to the shelves in North America come September. We'll be shelling out more information on this once the clues become available. So put on your deerstalker caps and stay tuned for Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened.

Sherlock HolmesMystery-solving games don't die, they spawn more intriguing games guaranteed to test your crime-solving skills. Take the case of Sherlock Homes: The Awakened. This is the third game in the series developed by Frogware Studio, a testament to the popularity of the mystery game genre.

Publisher Focus Home Interactive already gave us a little bit of info about the new features of the game, and gave us an intriguing trailer to boot. To further immerse us into the world of Sherlock Holmes, the publisher dished out just enough info to keep us interested in the game.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened brings two opposing universes together: the rational vs. the supernatural. It's up to you to "wade through the madness and horrors" as you take on the role of the brilliant detective.

On a typical London day, Doctor Watson brings news of the mysterious disappearance of a young Maori maid. As the curious detective, Holmes discovers the first clues leading to the kidnapping. He soon finds out that there are more cases of kidnappings. All signs point to a powerful organization. However, the absence of ransom demands puzzles Holmes. Further investigation leads Holmes to a sect that worships the god Cthulhu. This is where the rational meets the supernatural.

As Sherlock Holmes, you need to interact with over 60 characters to piece together hundreds of clues. It may sound a bit easy, but when fear sets in, you need more than just logical reasoning to get you through terrifying environments and situations. It's up to you to find your focus and discover the truth.

Solving the mystery

If you're into some old school mystery-solving action, then Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is the game for you. Brought to you by Frogwares Studio, this third installation of the adventures of the famous Sherlock Holmes promises to plunge you into a deeper form of excitement and adventure.

Play the part of Sherlock as you investigate mysterious disappearances, which seem to be related to the practices of the sect of Cthulhu disciples. Of course, the ever-loyal Dr. Watson will be there with you throughout your endeavor.

While the game sticks true to the trademark magnifying glass-wielding style of Sherlock, it also brings in a modern touch with its 3D environment, thereby allowing you to be immersed both as an active participant, and at the same time as a spectator. Solve puzzles along the way, for you to gain more evidence that will lead you to the answer.

With more than 60 characters in five universes to interact with, there sure is a lot of ground to cover to get to the bottom of the mystery. And with more than 50 objects at your disposal, to use and combine, you'll be sure to find something that will ultimately bring you to the answer.

Check out game trailer right here. You can also view more of the screenshots after the jump!
