With numerous solid franchises and an impressive roster of manga-anime games under its belt, it seems Namco Bandai will be expanding operations to new pastures. For that, they will be trying their hand out on the online PC gaming market, and to handle that responsibility will be their new division, Namco Bandai Online. |

This we expected from Jack Thompson. But from the Gundam creator? This
certainly brings a whole lot of disconnect to me. Yoshiyuki Tomino,
creator of the most famous sci-fi giant robot (complete with his own
posse) Gundam, believes that "video games are evil." Why? Because it's
killing our planet. Among many other things, I can only suppose. I think he must have heard of the failed suicide/ arson episode in Japan because mommy took out the guy's Gundam collection to trash. Check out the rest of his statements in the full article. |

The world video gaming is chock-full of memorables, from myths to personalities. Now, for this segment of our Top ten, we'll be looking at some of the more memorable mecha villains we've encountered from past gaming experience. Needless to say, this is more an opinion list than an official review (bias alert!), so readers who beg to differ are most welcome to post their two cents. With that said, we move on to the list: Metal Gear Rex (Metal Gear Solid) Shame on you if you haven't figured out who this is. Rex is the final boss of Metal Gear Solid, the first of Kojima's Metal Gear franchise entering into the PlayStation scene. Much of MGS' story revolved around you (Snake) trying to disable this (walking) nuclear artillery platform, alongside unveiling the complex personalities that consisted of the game's mix of allies and enemies - Psycho Mantis, anyone? Rex will also go down in gaming notoriety for two other things: As being one of the most memorable boss battles in the franchise (Ray from MGS2 was too easy!), and for grinding Grey Fox into the ground during a famed cutscene, like so much spaghetti sauce. Anubis(Zone of the Enders) For the guys not too well-versed in mythology, Anubis is the name of Egyptian god of the underworld...and the name of the central villain in Hideo Kojima's Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner game for the PS2. Designed alongside Jehuty as a proverbial nemesis, we'll remember Anubis for (among other things) introducing the player to the Zero-Shift ability...and for skewering the said player with a steel girder. First impressions aside, Nohman's megalomaniacal outlook only made Anubis look or the more sinister. More mecha, Full Article! |

It's quite amusing to note that despite the PS3 launch, this 11/17, there are a few non-PS3 titles that are coming out on the same week. They're pretty good titles too. Still, one just has to point out that the PS3 gets to hog the weekend, until the Wii comes out. Got your wallets ready? Here's the list: PC Looks like Madden's trying to get a head-start. That, or it's a bit overexcited. If the PS3 is a bit too expensive for you, and you're too impatient to wait for the Wii, you've got a noisy nine-tailed ninja, several muscular men with shaved armpits, an rpg, a war game, and something gothic waiting for you on the shelves this week. |
