Dead Space banned in Germany, Japan and China - Image 1You know it's a great survival-horror game if it got itself banned in three countries. It seems Electronic Arts' Dead Space packs a bit too much gory punch as it's been banned in Germany, Japan, and China. Well now I really want to get my hands on the game already.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Image 1 Here's the video media for day 2 and day 3 of the Happy Halloween surprise for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3, 360, PC), an event that leads up to the last seven days before the game's release.

The first video is a look at the game's ability to change the lighting and post FX on the fly. You'll even see part of a level where the sun sets and rises as you play through it. The second video shows a sort of slideshow on the making of the Overgrown level of CoD 4.

Check out the full article for the videos.

With Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare release date set in less than a week's time, Infinity Ward is now offering gamers a little Halloween surprise to herald the final week before the game goes live.

We're not going to give out any details about the video below since anything we say will just probably spoil it. Suffice it to say that any aspiring CoD 4 war heroes should take care when trying to do recon duty alone on any burning farmlands they come across in the game.

The video itself is a countdown to the last seven days before CoD4's November 5 release on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 (this includes the limited edition CoD 4 release on the same day). In retrospect, it's nice to know that coders of a supposedly serious game can take the time to kick back and poke fun at themselves.

Seeing that the video is the first of seven videos in a series, we'll be keeping our eye out for the rest of the videos over at the Infinity Ward website.

Blizzard Pumpkin-Carving contest - Image 1

Blizzard is announcing that as part of the preparations for Halloween, they are now accepting submissions for their annual Pumpkin-Carving Contest. The said event invites contestants to submit pictures of pumpkin carvings based on Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo.

The 10 winners for this event will each receive a pair of Logitech 51 Surround Sound Speaker Systems. Before you get bust out the carving knife, here are some extra contest reminders:
  • Most of all, your pumpkins should be original. If they feature original art, even better.
  • Your pumpkin must be lit up in the photo. You can show another photo of the pumpkin unlit.
  • The pumpkin must be related to one of the Blizzard game universes - Diablo, StarCraft, Warcraft, etc.
  • Make sure to send in high quality pictures. Try to take the best picture possible. You might have to read up on how to take night pictures.
  • Make sure you tell us what the pumpkin is supposed to be in the caption, just in case it's not clear
  • We love humor, and it's always good if you can tie that into your pumpkin
Those interested in submitting their best works have until Monday, October 29, (12:00 a.m. PDT) to do so. Now, if you've got your carving all ready for the competition, you can submit it to Blizzard's judges via the Read link we've provided below.

DoA girls - Image 1While this list isn't exactly the most original of its kind, we wanted to offer our take on which mamas are the hottest in the virtual world. Everything here is subjective and any list is as good as ours. So without remorse, this is our top 10 hottest game babes to date:

10. Maria Renard (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)- The blonde hottie from Alucard's big night out may not have been seen in 3D glory and all, but the portrait was convincing enough. With her perfect complexion, killer brown eyebrows and the wavy, golden hair, she was a perfect leading lady to match with the vampiric charm of Dracula's son.

9. Mai Shiranui (King of Fighters)- Mai first appeared in the first half of the 90's in Fatal Fury 2. She immediately became one of the stars of the game for obvious reasons: She had the moves and the physique to match. Where rival bear 'em up Street Fighter II featured more conservative lady brawlers, SNK showed Mai's assets off with an innovative twist: Bouncing jubblies! Now imagine the testosterone levels in the old-school arcades more than a decade ago.

8. Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII)- The gorgeous good girl of the legendary RPG Final Fantasy VII may have led a short and sweet character lifespan, but the fact remains that she's still one of the most beloved females in the business to date. Okay, the clothes she wore may not exactly be revealing, but we have to understand that it's how she was meant to be packaged in the first place. Imagine if she was a bit more fashion-trendy: She would have given the DoA girls a run for their money.

7. Morrigan Aensland (Dark Stalkers)- The naughty night warrior does that succubus lineage proud. She looked fantastic in 2D and had the ferocity to match. The anime spin-off of Capcom's popular Halloween fighter did her justice as she was just as charming there. Call her costume weird, but that only strengthens the convictions of her appeal. You gotta admit, not a lot of girls will look sexy in that!

Headcrab hats - Image 1 Headcrab hats - Image 2

Man, this would have been great for Halloween. The lovable psychotics at the Valve Studios' secret dressmaking factory in the Himalayas were recently taken over by the Combine, leading to the mass production of something unexpectedly horrific, yet cute and stylish.

Yes folks, it's a headcrab hat.

While scouring Steam for updates, we noticed that they were actually selling these nifty bits of headgear for 30 bucks. They even put it under the Half-Life 2 Critters merchandising group! It's a cap shaped like a headcrab that actually looks rather comfortable, though it might end up sucking your brains and turning you into a mindless automaton.

See, if we get a bunch of these, we won't just wear it to keep the sun away. We'd also grab a labcoat and some facepaint and scare the daylights out of people in cemeteries by slowly shambling towards them! Sweet! Let's just hope none of those guys are carrying crowbars, or we'd be in for a world of hurt.
