BioShock - Image 1Disgruntled PC gamers who are having problems with installing BioShock (PC, Xbox 360) on their PCs, due to running out of activation credits, can now heave a big sigh of relief as the official 2K Games forums now have an indispensable tool available to fix the problem: the activation revoke tool.

So what does the revoke tool actually do? It de-activates the BioShock license currently installed on the computer to free it for later use. In other words, if you want to install BioShock on a computer that just suffered a disk crash but already used up all your activation licenses, using the revoke tool will free up one of your activation licenses so you can re-install it again without any problems.

There will be some limitations to this tool: the revoke tool will work only once per computer, and you need to have direct access to the computer whose license needs to be deactivated.

Now those who had problems with running BioShock after upgrading their machines can finally play the game again (yes, we're looking at you Ceasar S.).

Download the tool and read the entire FAQ sheet on the Read link!

Bioshock to recieve new game patch - Image 1

It appears that Take-Two Interactive is readying another patch update for Irrational Games' BioShock title for the Xbox 360 and PC. The report we're picking this up from indicates that the company's recruiting community playtesters to try the new patch out.  Given that Take-Two gagged this topic with an NDA, however, that's pretty much all we have to go on for the moment.

As you guys may recall, BioShock received a surprise patch update just last month. And while this patch was expected to help smooth out the game's performance, there were also reports coming in that it instead created more bugs - game lag being among the worst of the ailments. We'll let you know if any more details arrive fro this new patch in development. Hey, at least you know it's coming.

Widescreen Illustration of the problem with BioShock - Image 1

It goes without saying that internet time is a very strange thing. In the videogame world, it means that information moves instantaneously, but only if the people who're supposed to get that information are online to receive it. That being said, Irrational Games' Ken Levine, the creative director of BioShock (Xbox 360, PC), responded to earlier concerns about problems with BioShock's widescreen by asking for patience and understanding from the public.

Wrote Levine on the 2K Games boards:

Sorry about all the conflict. IG development people (specifically Chris and Rowan who are both on vacation) were trying to take a day off today (we've been working about six months 6-7 days a week). I'm trying to see what everybody's concerns are and consult with the staff.

I know people are frustrated, but we are dealing with internet time here. It wasn't until 7 pm EST that I was able to even talk to anybody in our Australian studio, which is open today (9 AM their time).

I hear you that not everybody was thrilled with the PC launch. And I'm trying to collect information and see what the facts are. PC game development does not function in a matter of seconds or hours, especially when most of the team is on vacation. But I hear you, and we're looking into the issue. I'll only ask you have a bit of understanding as to the time scale that software development issues must occur in.

While widescreen issues may not be a big deal for everyone, those who do enjoy their games in widescreen formats do have their enjoyment somewhat hampered as they aren't seeing the whole picture. What do you think about the whole issue?

BioShock - Image 1PC BioShock fans, the wait is finally over. We know that you've been wailing and gnashing teeth since the Xbox 360 demo was released last week (among other things, like not being able to play the PC version until August 21).

Well, Irrational Games and 2K Games heard your near maniacal pleas and will be releasing the PC demo on Monday, 7 p.m. EST. Wait, that's later today. According to BioShock's official website, you can pre-load the demo from FilePlanet, though the BioShock demo will be going live at seven, on the dot.

Before you run over there, make sure that you're running on your video card's latest drivers just so you can squeeze the best visuals from them. Also, players from Europe need not fret as Eurogamer announced that the demo will be going live at midnight for their side of the Atlantic.

At any rate, keep your your eyes peeled for the demo on the Cult of Rapture website, as we'll be doing the same. Stay tuned for more BioShock (Xbox 360 and PC) news and updates.

It's barely been a full day since the BioShock demo debuted on Xbox Live and the fever is still raging hot. To follow up on the whole parade, 2K Boston and 2K Australia has launched a new "Plasmid powers" trailer which shows you the game's customizable toys from hell. Have a look and be disturbed by the inhumanity:

According to information currently available regarding Plasmids, you use this to pump up trees that will advance your character's weapons and physical attributes. Skills may be active or passive. The active ones are essentially the tools you use to send enemies into the afterlife, just like that nice little jolty thing shown in the vid.

BioShock is a single-player FPS developed by 2K Boston and 2K Australia under Microsoft. It's going to be available for the Xbox 360 and the PC. A demo is set to launch for Windows later this month, so hang in there, PC gamers.

Irrational Games no more: introducing 2K Boston, 2K Australia - Image 1

An official announcement by Take-Two Interactive slapped us back to Timbuktu today, as the publisher wired news regarding a name change for Irrational Games. The developers behind the highly anticipated BioShock (Xbox 360, Windows PC) won't be known by their former collective name anymore. Welcome to the limelight, 2K Boston and 2K Australia.

Double-rooted Irrational Games have now been officially integrated into the 2K Games label (and family), claimed 2K Games. The move was quickly followed with the knighting of the Boston, Massachusetts headquarters as 2K Boston and the second studio in Canberra, Australia as 2K Australia. "Following their incredible efforts in bringing BioShock to life, we are proud to make the newly renamed Irrational Games studios a cornerstone of our game development family," said Christoph Harmann, President of 2K.

Just a little while earlier, Irrational Games 2k Boston and 2K Australia had rendered the final mastercopy of BioShock for mass production, and even before it can ship to shelves it has become one of the must-have games for Xbox 360 and Windows gamers worldwide.

Bioshock box cover - Image 1We're sure you've marked you calendars for August 21 for BioShock, the upcoming video game from the joint efforts of Irrational Games and 2K Games. In case you haven't decided whether to get it or not, we've got a new video that may interest you.

BioShock (Xbox 360 and PC) is an FPS set in the 1960s in a fictional underwater city called Rapture. In the trailer, we see a short retro commercial for Plasmids from Ryan Industries. After that, the devs (Ken Levine, Creative Director; Melissa Miller, Content Producer; and Nate Wells, Technical Art Director) talk about the plasmids that can be used to the player's advantage. Incinerate, electrobolt, cryokinesis, telekinesis, etc. etc. Take your pick.

Anyway, check out the video and see them for yourself. Enjoy!

The video is just under the surface, click the link below.
