Pro Evolution Soccer
is the first stop for many when they need their football fix, and for a good reason. From the humble beginnings of Winning Eleven, Konami Digital is now ready to explode with Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, DS) which should sell to all football fans. If you've been an avid fan, these screenshots that seem to be from Pro Evolution Soccer 2008's versions on more powerful platforms (PS3, 360, PC) are sure to catch your attention.

It's quite pleasing to see that even commoners look good. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 never really pushed for eye-candy if it would make gameplay suffer, but this upcoming installment of the video game more than satisfies. We also get a good glimpse at the different menus and options available in-game. Being a manager may actually get a lot tougher this time around, since the players can complain if you work them too hard.

Konami dated and might go multiplatform, says Konami President - Image 1When Konami and Kojima Studios held a party last week in honor of Metal Gear Solid's 20th anniversary, video game journalists spotted Xbox Japan General Manager Takahashi Sensui at the event. Fans immediately speculated that this could be a hint that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is heading to the Xbox 360.

If we are to believe the following insider scoop sent to gaming site Kotaku, then we just might see Solid Snake stealthily prowling outside PlayStation borders. Reportedly, Konami had an analyst meeting today to talk about the following:
Like we said, the meeting just transpired hours ago and there's no way of verifying the said information. You could take this rumor with as much credibility as you want. Or, we could all just wait and see what happens.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 scores Newcastle's Michael Owen - Image 1In an official announcement made not later than today, Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH revealed that the company's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be featuring none other than Michael Owen, English striker and one of Newcastle United's pride and glory, on both the packaging (UK specific) and the promotional materials for the game.

Together with Cristiano Ronaldo, Owen will be combining image and skill on the UK packshots of Pro Evolution Soccer's latest installment. Barring any critical opinion of his choice for Newcastle over Liverpool, Owen still keeps a reputation level with his 178 league goals, 37 of which were for England.

"Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami. Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at every level both domestic and international," said Jon Murphy, Team Leader for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 at Konami.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC over DVD, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS by fall of 2007, featuring Konami's new Teamvision artificial intelligence system for dynamic and real-time play.

And the battle for the best soccer video game title continues. It should be remembered that it was just recently that Electronic Arts announced FIFA 08 for various platforms. Today, Konami Digital Entertainment unwrapped the covers on the latest iteration of its own soccer franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

It will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and Games for Windows platforms.

One of the more interesting features of this title include the Konami-developed AI system called Teamvision. Basically, this programming learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and to learn from previous attacking or defensive errors. This means that the system adapts to an individual's style of play.

Creator of the series and producer of PES 2008 Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka mentioned that their team took the time to figure out what makes the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise so popular, and they started from there. He explained:

With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait.

Konami added that fans can get their hands on Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 starting this autumn.
