Rockstar Games logo - Image 1Rockstar Games has acquired Mad Doc Software and has thus created Rockstar New England from it. Looks like the development empire of the company is by no means slowing down despite the heavy criticisms for its prominent game titles (GTA is a dead giveaway). See how this new partnership sprang up over at the full article.

Sierra's Empire Earth 3 goes gold - Image 1

You are under attack! Well okay, maybe not yet, but when Mad Doc Software's Empire Earth III does ship, you will be. Sierra Entertainment slaps its brand of quality on this real-time strategy game of evolutionary proportions, and right now the master copy of Empire Earth III should be under mass production for shipping to North America.

As the third installment of the Empire Earth series, Empire Earth III takes a slightly more fantasy look than its predecessors. Mad Doc Software's game still takes to its former style of leading a race through the ages, though now Empire Earth III grants only four epochs to course through. It grabs a few elements from Total War's campaign map and some ideas for races and building mechanics from other RTS games.

Expect Sierra's Empire Earth III to hit the shelves of your favorite game retail stores by November 6 for your Microsoft Windows powered PC. It will be part of Microsoft's Games for Windows line.

What kind of RTS (real-time strategy) video games do you like? Futuristic, like Civilization? Or futuristic, like Command & Conquer? Well, we've got one game that joins both into one neat package: Sierra Entertainment and Mad Doc Software's Empire Earth III.

In this new Empire Earth III video, we meet the units that we'll be able to command. From the camel riding Bedouin raider to the seafaring Fire Ship, the units are diverse and varied. War carts won't be running alongside phase tanks, but you'll be able to command both as you progress through the ages. Your fronts are covered with a number of air, water, and land units.

Check out the video and see just how diverse the units get. (The futuristic weapons look like they'll be delivering massive hurt.) Empire Earth III is slated for a November release, so stay tuned for more info. Enjoy!

Time-spanning coolness. That's what you call a trailer like this. When you get one character transforming into another character in another era going headlong into a battle, you can be sure it means sweet strategic butt-kicking.

So, what can you expect from this trailer for Sierra Entertainment and Mad Doc Software's Empire Earth III? Well, you get to see what looks to be a Roman or Viking warrior charging into his enemy, transforming into a female musket-wielding woman along the way. As the musketwoman runs towards the viewer though, she transforms into a 23rd century warrior who gains power armor and starts decimating everything around her with shrapnel and bullets.

Like we said, it's pretty sweet. Here's the trailer for you. Expect Empire Earth III to dominate your world some time in November, alright? Enjoy!

The latest in the series of Empire Earth games, Empire Earth III (EEIII) being published by Vivendi is looking really good. An RTS developed by Mad Doc Software for the PC, EEIII is looking better, bigger and cleaner than it's previous iterations.

Besides having three customizable civilizations (namely Eastern, Middle-Eastern, and Western), the latest version of the game will introduce new units and weapons such as a nuclear cannon. More importantly, the developers have also added a new free-form campaign structure will let you jump from major event to major event. This removes the "one time period" constraint that was present in Empire Earth II.Another feature of the game is that units and buildings will carry over from previous levels, thus allowing players to build a powerful army to rule the world.

Empire Earth III is set to be released during Fall this year in the US and December 31 for Europe. Check out the screenshots and artwork if it's your cup of tea.

The folks at 2404 were recently able to have a quick one-on-one with Jeff Buccellato, Senior Producer for Sierra's upcoming RTS for the PC, Empire Earth III. The interview tackles loads of game aspects like the general setting, weapons, types of units, graphic engine, multiplayer, A.I., and tons more. But because we wanna make it easy on your eyes, join us as we rundown some of the important points made in the interview:
  • graphic engine and visuals: the game supports Shader Model 3, and is integrated with normal mapping, physics, "ambient occlusion texture," and a new particle system
  • unit types: infantry, cavalry, naval, mortar, siege, spies, heroes, priests
  • new mega weapons: Scorched Earth, Shock and Awe, Quantum Singularity Gun
  • multiplayer options: skirmish with up to eight other players with customizable tech levels for both the players and the AI, ladders, anonymous matchmaking, and extensive stats tracking of game elements
  • missions and campaigns: Buccellato says that the third installment of the Empire Earth series will move away from traditional mission and campaign approaches by placing more focus on the free-form environment interaction that players will be able to engage in
As mentioned, this is just a quick summary of the topics discussed. So if you wanna check out the full interview for yourself (and read up on musical score, AI setup, game production challenges, etc.), feel free to do so by clicking on the read link below. Empire Earth III is currently being developed by Mad Doc Software and is slated for release in U.S. this Spring, and Europe on December 31st.

The world is not enough... - Image 1

No game can get bigger than Supreme Commander, but perhaps no game can span more history (even into a fictionalized future) than the Stainless Steal Games and Mad Doc Software series Empire Earth. And now Mad Doc (the developer) has the latest, Empire Earth III, to be published by Vivendi Universal.

Thanks to WorthPlaying, we get a look at some screenshots.

Forgive me for saying that these screenies scream Command and Conquer: Generals, with its 3D oriented viewpoints, the SAGE-like environments, that eerie feeling we have that they borrowed some of the Scrin's submarines and repainted them green for one of the screenshots here (wait - the Scrin are in Tiberium Wars, not Generals!!!).

Then again, what other game would have futuristic gunboats sailing up to bombard the walls of a medieval Chinese military force? Someone must have been very lazy leveling up his civilization. Here are the rest of the screens.

How do you nuke your enemy to the Stone Age when he's already there? - Image 1How do you nuke your enemy to the Stone Age when he's already there? - Image 2How do you nuke your enemy to the Stone Age when he's already there? - Image 4

You need 1,000 food, 500 wood, 100 stone, and 50 gold to advance to the Full Article for the rest of the screens. Or just click on the "Full Article" link below.

Comment:
There hasn't been a good Star Trek game in ages. There will never be one. Unless it's an MMO.
Max F.: Hope springs eternal. The graphics and attention to detail, the story (award-winning writer), and the hard work they're putting into the development of this game all make us hope it'll be good. And there is an MMO.

Comment: I heard all the captains are voice acting in it. The game will span the Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise.
Max F.: We don't mention the disappointing Enterprise series. *old-school Trekkie giggles* Picard forever!

Comment: Star Trek: Legacy is just a rip-off of Wing Commander.
Max F.: Hmph. There wouldn't have been a Wing Commander franchise if it weren't for us Trekkies. Hmph. And the last Wing Commander game was, when, way back in 1996, right? Just kidding (I'm so gonna be flamed; please don't flame me).

We'll see who's right (or if I have to eat my Trekkie heart out) when this Mad Doc Software and Bethesda Softworks game comes out November 21. So let's move on to the remaining screenshots courtesy of WorthPlaying. If you're curious, the images alternate Xbox 360, PC, Xbox 360, PC, etc., starting from the images above. Just thought you'd like to see them side-by-side.

Too bad they didn't show the debris and sparks from damages, and it's not clear if this is multiplayer or single campaign.
