A recent survey from What They Play, a parental advisory website,
revealed that parents seem to be more worried about their children's
exposure to videogames than alcohol, pornography, or violence.
Furthermore, a second survey by the group showed that parents
considered content showing sex and sexuality as more offensive than
depictions of violence. Learn more after the jump! |

Will Take-Two eventually give in to Electronic Art's "furtive" nudges (remember, they're not desperate)? In a recent announcement, EA stated that it already secured a loan worth US$ 1 billion in preparation of the big merger if it pushes through. Will it, perhaps? The details in the full article. |

We don't know what the future holds in the event that Electronic Arts manages to acquire Take-Two Interactive, but it probably isn't the end of the world. In fact, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is optimistic enough to say the Grand Theft Auto franchise will probably survive in the hands of EA even if original developer Rockstar North parts ways. Head over to the full article for more details. |

The contract between Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar North expires in
14 months. Because of this, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is
saying that the developers of the Grand Theft Auto series might actually consider following Bungie's footsteps and set up their own camp.More information on why Rockstar North might decide to go independent can be found in the full article. |

Well, it looks like the Hot Coffee scandal is slowly coming to a close. Aside from FTC deciding not to impose fines on Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, Take Two finally drafted a proposed settlement to the class action litigation on the Hot Coffee controversy in Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
(for the PC, PS2, Xbox). The settlements involve game disc exchanges
and even cash refunds to be given to gamers who bought the title. Read on to check out the details on how to qualify for the settlement benefits! |

Sega Rally Revo is an arcade-style racer which takes players and their cars off the road and on to the dirt for an axle-breaking, fender busting ride that boasts of graphical superiority grown primarily on the Sony PlayStation 3 and ported to the Microsoft Xbox 360, PC and Sony PlayStation Portable.GamePro was able to see how the game looked first hand in its high-resolution glory and the respected game publication was all praises for what it saw. Running at 730p for next-gen consoles and moving at a lofty 30 frames per second, the visuals had a lot of bells and whistles to make it all look sweet. The move to tone down the frame rate, says GamePro, was based on the rationale of "freeing up extra horsepower for slick visual effects like real-time reflections (both on cars and wet roads) and high levels of anti-aliasing (the PS3 version had no visible "jaggies"...and believe us, we looked for them)." The development team also revealed that the game was originally developed only in the PS3 platform but was later ported to other systems. The devs handling the project are from the Rockstar North and Codemasters folds. The game is expected to be set loose sometime between the end of September and the middle of October this year. More than 30 cars and 24 tracks will be featured for high-octane fun on all of the platforms it will see action in. |

Dare to be Digital is one of the premier computer design competitions in the UK. Currently in its season, the organizers are looking for entries from Scottish and Irish university students. Last year's winners are now working with industry big shots such as Codemasters, BBC Scotland, Rockstar North, Electronic Arts UK, and Electronic Arts Shanghai. This year's contest, moreover, is being hosted by the Abertay University in Dundee, Scotland as well as Queen's University in Belfast. Four teams from Scotland will be selected to stay in Abertay while another four teams (mostly coming from the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland) will be accommodated in Queen's. All contestants will be given full nine weeks to design and build a fully functioning prototype of a videogame. The winner will be announced sometime in August. Lastly, Dare to be Digital organizers are considering to establish a host location in England, or to host English teams in Dundee. Pertinent details on the competition, including how to join, can be read via the Read link. |
