It was a bit of a letdown when Activision Blizzard didn't include Ghostbusters: the video game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PC) in its list of releases for the remainder of 2008. Vivendi, however, indicated that all is not lost as they will be exploring other options on how to release it. The game will have to come in 2009, but someone has to pick up the publishing reins first.

Those hankering for more details on Capcom and Sony Pictures' Resident Evil: Degeneration will finally have a longer trailer to chew on, along with a few tidbits of details on the side. While Wii Fit and Grand Theft Auto IV vied for our attentions last week, Sierra Entertainment pulled a fast one and managed to drop a couple of bombshells of its own during its gaming-centric event, Sierra Spring Break 08. Aside from the new info springing forth for The Bourne Conspiracy, Prototype, and World of Conflict, we've also gathered tons of new details on the massively multiplatform Ghostbusters: The Videogame. Sony recently did a bit of internal shuffling by moving Sony Online Entertainment under the direct supervision of Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. president Kaz Hirai. The new structure change hopes to take advantage of the expertise of both companies to further extend the PlayStation 3 entertainment experience. It's been a while since we last heard from Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment about their big collaboration project for the first full-length CGI movie based on the Resident Evil series. However, here's a big update: eye-popping exclusive screenshots of Resident Evil: Degeneration.

Although both Sony Pictures Animation (under Sony Pictures Entertainment) and Sony Computer Entertainment both belong under the larger Sony umbrella, guess that they're not averse to some third-party outsourcing of film licenses. Happened before with SPE's Open Season (Wii, PSP, NDS, Xbox 360, PC), developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and it's happening again for the latest flick, Surf's Up.

Surf's Up is the story of one guy's passion for surfing taking him into the high-octane world of competitive surfing. That the guy - and most of the characters - happen to be mostly penguins is just an incidental point in this mockumentary. This should make for an interesting surfing game. Wonder if it will be of extreme proportions... or if there will be rabbid cameos... (*WARNING* Bunnies Very Useful Scientific Facts #45-ish: Bunnies can't surf)

Let's talk for a while about ZootFly's planned Ghostbusters game. We all saw the videos. We all got excited (I did, anyway). Now we're looking at the possibility that it's never going to happen.

ZootFly's Ghostbusters videos have just been pulled off of YouTube at the request of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The only thing you'll see when you try to look for them is "This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner Sony Pictures Entertainment because its content was used without permission."

All references to the game have also disappeared from the ZootFly website. According to CVG, who contacted ZootFly about the issue, the developer says that "the videos were indeed removed at the request of Sony Pictures and all references to the game have been removed from its website while negotiations over the rights continue behind closed doors."

Well, at least negotiations are still ongoing, so there's still hope that the game will still see the light of day. With Sony now starting to move, maybe it'll get a PS3 release. Heck, it could even become an exclusive. Whatever happens, though, we're definitely making sure we don't cross the proton streams.
