Enemy in your territory: Quake Wars demo lands - Image 1

Been aching to flex your PC's muscles (or mouse reflexes)? You're in luck, because Splash Damage has released a demo for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PlayStation 3, Windows PC over DVD, Xbox 360) just for the PC community, with a chock full of goodies for the multiplayer goon and single-player soloist in everybody. As promised, the finalized version of Valley is now ready to be re-experienced.

Because if you've participated in the Beta phase for Enemy Territory, you've already scurried (or driven) across the map's landscapes to beat back the Strogg, and kept your glass of water poison-free. But if tackling with FPS hustlers was never your style, you could ease down the pressure notch a bit with a more cooperative single-player mode.

And if hordes of other players keep flooding the various dedicated servers provided, you can always opt for the classic LAN fest for local, high-speed gaming. Get a feel of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars before it hits shelves on October 2 in North America and September 28 in Europe. Oh and yes, it is also coming for Linux and Mac gamers worldwide.

In the plus side, however, a recent interview conducted by GameSpot AU has revealed that the console versions won't be different from the leading PC version. Nerve Software's Brian Matt did confirm several things coming to the Xbox 360 version, the major ones every bit as identical to Splash Damage's version.
  • Single-player mode with up to 15 bots (player makes 16), check.
  • Same bot artificial intelligence as PC version, check.
  • Multi-player mode with ability to turn consoles into servers, check.
  • Multi-player mode with console friendly matchup service, check.
  • Proficiencies leveling up in single-player and multi-player (reset after campaigns are completed), check.
  • Subtle aiming aid, plus other helpful controller features, check.
  • Cross-platform multiplayer, dropped.
No word yet on Z-Axis, who are busy at work on the Sony PlayStation 3 version. More on Splash Damage and id Software's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as they drop in.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo primer outlines expectations - Image 1

PC gamers - gear up, lock and load, and adjust those sights. Straight from the Enemy Territory online community comes news of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PlayStation 3, Windows PC on DVD, Xbox 360) demo kicking off to a preliminary phase. A primer to the "whats and wheres" of the upcoming demo has been published, and there's much to brief yourself with.

The demo sports the final version of Valley - an earlier version of the map was used in the beta test phase, and players will hopefully get to engage in combat at the water treatment facility one more time. Demo servers will be up at that time, but for folks who can't connect to the servers latency-free, a single-player mode with bots will also be available in the package.

But what's more important right now is the hardware requirements. Windows XP and Vista are the only supported operating systems for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and updating to the latest release of DirectX 9.0c for XP users would be a plus for extra FPS rates.

Minimum hardware requirements and other information available at the full article.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Image 1Gamers won't be waiting too long for the demo and the release of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for the PC. The Enemy Territory community site has revealed that the demo comes out on September 10, while the full game will be released on October 2 in North America.

European and Australian fans will be glad to know that they'll be getting Splash Damage's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars a bit earlier. It ships September 28 in PAL territories.

The game is a first-person shooter based on team play and strategy. Players can choose from five classes on each of the two factions and take on roles that can make or break a team. The story tells the tale of the human race's struggle against an alien threat coming from the vicious Strogg.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a PC, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony PlayStation 3 multi-platformer.
