Although Blizzard has always been one to decline from giving out any release projections unless they're damn sure they'll meet it, StarCraft II's 2010 launch seems to be firmly set in stone. Not so for Diablo III, which was most recently given one hell of a wide release window.

Blizzard is well known for their release policy of "it's done when it's done". But when StarCraft II does release, you can rest assured it's gonna be thoroughly polished, enough to earn Activision Blizzard as much as US$ 40 million in its opening quarter. Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith has revealed that they have now set their sights on breaking into the action genre with a brand new IP. Details about the IP are still scarce, but Griffith did share with Develop why Activision, which has become decidedly restrictive when it comes to new IP, made the decision.
