Superannuation is reporting that Blizzard filed three trademark registrations for the title "Cataclysm". What is it? Nobody knows for sure yet, but the trademark did indicate that it covers "computer games, paper-based products (comic books, trading cards, coloring books), and online games." Sounds like they're getting ready to build a merchandising empire with this one.

The fans are not pleased with Blizzard's decision to not have LAN multiplayer in StarCraft II. And as with any other dissatisfied fans, they went online and created a petition to convince Blizzard to do otherwise.

Planning a LAN party to celebrate the launch of StarCraft II (whenever that is)? You can still do that, but you'll all have to be connected to Battle.Net first. Blizzard has confirmed that the upcoming RTS game will not support LAN play to further build up Battle.Net as the multiplayer solution for their games. That, and to combat piracy.

If you've got qualms about the StarCraft II delay, blame it on WoW. Speaking to Eurogamer, the guys at Blizzard reveal that the reason we've been waiting so long for StarCraft II is because World of Warcraft held it up. Details after the jump.

We've been hearing quite a number of updates on StarCraft 2 - which is fully fine and understandable, precisely because its beta is scheduled for this summer. But what of the other blockbuster title we're also waiting for? You know, Diablo III? It's time to refresh those  memories with the aid of these scrumptious screenshots released by Blizzard. We all know that the StarCraft II beta is all set to run this summer, although we do not know a specific date for it yet. Now thanks to an email sent out by Blizzard this weekend, we now know that it's near -- very near.

Blizzard has updated their Starcraft 2 Map Maker Series over at their official forums, revealing that the map editor will indeed be included in the beta, however, not from the onset. More info await after the jump.

Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith has revealed that they have now set their sights on breaking into the action genre with a brand new IP. Details about the IP are still scarce, but Griffith did share with Develop why Activision, which has become decidedly restrictive when it comes to new IP, made the decision. I bet you guys can guess why.
