With summer about to end, it's nice to know that we're getting more company for the Fall as big game titles start to emerge. Topping the list this week are two big titles, each for consoles and for the PSP handheld. Batman: Arkham Asylum is set to grace North American PS3s and Xbox 360s, while Dissidia: Final Fantasy is weaving its magic on the PSP -- both on the same day, Tuesday. The games sure are kicking up. This week, we've got another video game adaptation of a popular action hero franchise that's launching along the movie. Don't look now, but it's another four-game batch for this week, with the exclusion of the digital-only releases. This week's biggest titles come from the Watchmen, as they get released into different titles for the PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively. IGN managed to get a few words from Disney Interactive Studios game director Alex Peters on the studio's latest project, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, a new action RPG for the Xbox 360, PS3, and the PC. Ever wish that the Overlord in the Disgaea franchise looked that sick? Well, wouldn't be Disgaea if it was that serious. Besides, you can just go ahead and play Overlord II on your PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 - when the game comes out that is. In the meantime, we've got first dibs on these new Overlord II vids, featuring the dev diary in one, and the creature-crushing gameplay in the other. C'mon and have a look.

Like they say, once you're at the top, there's nowhere to go but down. In Shigeru Miyamoto's case, he went down quite a bit. After being at the top of Time 100 last year, the Nintendo gaming mastermind drops to #42 of Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people from various fields and industries. Remember the Ubidays 2008 trailer for Prince of Persia (DS, PlayStation 3, Windows, Xbox 360)? If you didn't already know, Elika is the lithe and equally acrobatic sidekick who gave our hero, the so-called Wanderer, the lethal boost to bring down the big baddie midway into the short flick. We now learn that she is one of Ubisoft's instruments to re-capturing the magic that is Prince of Persia. Learn how they plan to do so at the full story.

Grand theft what? This April isn't exactly rocky even if you're not a fan of the upcoming sandbox behemoth, because other major releases can go neck to neck. For the week ending April 20, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will race to North America with an expansion for The Sims 2 and Okami's waggle reincarnation tailing behind. Fresh from acquiring assets to dip themselves into the casual gaming market, "creative hub" publisher THQ will now set out to raise the curtains off their much broader lineup of games for fiscal year 2009. And aside from tending some exclusive titles for the Nintendo Wii, THQ has a couple of mainstream franchises piled up for a comeback.
