Electronic Arts is most certainly proud to announce today the record-breaking launch of the latest iteration in the FIFA videogame franchise, FIFA 10 (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, PS2 and PC). In its first week alone, said title has earned over 1.7 million copies throughout European retail.

EA Sports confirmed the release date for their multiplatformer sports title, FIFA 10. Their press release on their official page sets the date for the game kickoff to be on October 2nd.

With this week's big guns coming as digital downloads, the games that will actually be on shelves this week won't be beckoning for your cash too hard. This week's MVP goes to NCAA Football 10, which has received some good reviews despite EA's lackluster performance in the last few years. You may not be personally interested in the rest of the list, but someone you know might love to get one as a gift. Who knows?

You'll have to postpone tossing the ol' pigskin in-game until Madden NFL 2010 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP, PC, PS2) comes out, that is unless you're still playing Madden 09. In the meantime, EA Sports rolled out a bunch of screens for us to scrutinize while waiting for updates on the latest game in the John Madden franchise.

Finally stepping up to the plate in defense of video games is Electronic Arts exec Peter Moore -- and to Mr. President, Barack Obama himself, no less! After recommending that kids should play out in the sunshine more rather than play videogames indoor, in his speech to the American Medical Association, Obama has now been challenged by Moore to get into a 30-Day Challenge.

Nothing feels quite like taking it strong against the defenders and scoring that sweet, sweet top-corner goal. For FIFA 10, Electronic Arts decided to raise the bar to give you a much better experience than any FIFA game before it. Learning from a massive 275 million games played online, EA Sports gathered all the feedback and input from players and their games to bring new innovations for the soccer sensation. After last week's rather paltry offerings, we finally get a hefty bunch of new releases.
