Electronic Arts have announced that the critically acclaimed first-person shooter multiplayer game Battlefield 1943 will be available on July 8 on Xbox Live marketplace for 1200 MS points and on July 9 on the Playstation Network for US$ 15.00.

Last week's batch may be a tough act to follow, but this week holds its own, bidding for your buck. The Call of Juarez prequel Bound in Blood (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC) is out now if you want a mean FPS. Good news to all PC gamers! After numerous delays, Electronic Arts and DICE has quietly released the much awaited free-to-play multiplayer action shooter game Battlefield Heroes. The cartoon style spin-off of Battlefield games was originally scheduled for release last summer has finally open its doors to the public.

Some changes are also in store for RPG heavyweight BioWare and MMO studio Mythic Entertainment. Electronic Arts has announced that the two studios will be restructured into a single group that will handle RPG and MMO games development.

Its just as the title says. Electronic Arts' Mass Effect game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, Mass Effect Galaxy, is now on the App Store, and it looks like it does tie in to Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360 and PC). Details after the jump.

Here's another one from EA. Reportedly, the Electronic Arts official site pegged Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC) as also making its way to the PS3 in 2009. In fact, it even had a picture of its placeholder boxart.

Finally stepping up to the plate in defense of video games is Electronic Arts exec Peter Moore -- and to Mr. President, Barack Obama himself, no less! After recommending that kids should play out in the sunshine more rather than play videogames indoor, in his speech to the American Medical Association, Obama has now been challenged by Moore to get into a 30-Day Challenge.

The Burnout Team is doing Speed. Need for Speed, that is. Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello clarified that the NFS and Burnout franchise will NOT be merging into one, although the Burnout Team, frontlined by Alex Ward of Criterion Games, will be taking care of the next NFS iteration.
