It's confirmed: Uwe Boll's making another movie adaptation of a popular videogame, and this time it's Far Cry. The shooting of the movie - which will take place in Vancouver, Canada, instead of Hawaii as previously stated- will begin immediately next month, as Gamerflicks reports.A little backgrounder on Far Cry: Ubisoft's 2004 first-person shooter puts the player in the shoes of Jack Carver, an ex-Special Forces soldier who encounters mutant creatures known as Trigen after a mercenary job goes awry. Things go sharply downhill after that, with Carver bent on rescuing his employer - a female journalist by the name of Valerie Constantine - and every step bringing him closer to what the Trigens really are, and who created the monstrosities in the first place. That's how it goes in the game. How it actually goes in the movie is anyone's guess - and when Uwe's involved, all bets are off, if one remembers his spin on Postal. With much of the cast and staff from his previous movies reprising their roles, one thing is clear, at least: we're in for one very interesting game-to-movie adaptation. Oh, and in case you're wondering just who'll be portraying Jack, it's a rumored toss-up between Michael Pare ("Bloodrayne II") or Jason Statham ("In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Movie"). |

We all love Comic Con for the hotties, the cool booths, and the freebies. We love it not for the overcrowding and prepaid ticket holders being turned away. But this year's Comic Con New York 2007, currently ongoing from February 23 to 25 at the Javits Center in New York City might be a little better, with CDV Software Entertainment USA lineup to visit. The CDV booth will be located in The Gaming Zone, presented by Computer Games Magazine, in the main lobby area. There will be a playable version of Runaway: The Dream of the Turtle, sequel to 2003's Runaway, A Road Adventure. This game will ship March 12, but Comic Con visitors will have a taste trying out the game of traveling from Alaska to Hawaii meeting a cast of miscreants off to solve a mystery. You can also have your picture taken as part of the runaway cast, too. Shipping this March 5, 2007 is Tortuga-Two Treasures, featuring land and naval battles of sword and cannon fights. You can try out your hand at playing pirates in this exhibit. There will also be a War Front: Turning Point exhibit. Turning Point is already available all across North America. Not everyone could be there (imagine the crowds!), but we're counting on you guys to give us updates on this event. We'd love to hear your comments about the CDV kiosk. |

Sweden-based game publisher Legendo Entertainment has just released the first in a series of trailers for their upcoming title for the PC, Attack on Pearl Harbor. Set in the Pacific during World War II, this title allows players to relive that period in history when the Allied Forces and the Axis Powers were locked in deadly combat. In Attack on Pearl Harbor, players can take up the role of either Douglas Knox of the USAAF, or fighter pilot Zenji Yamada of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service. There are also four solo campaigns to complete, all of which are set in various periods from 1941-1945. Historic battles that are re-enacted within the game include the Japanese attack on Hawaii, the Battle of Midway, Iwo Jima, Burma, and Manila, with each location offering a whole set of various missions. So, without further ado, here's the trailer, as well some new screenshots from the game. |
