The July 4th SGC09 debate between anti-gamer, former Miami lawyer Jack Thompson and gamer/ attorney Mark Methenitis is all set and raring to go, despite the hump on the road yesterday morning, nearly resulting into Thompson's cancellation from the event. Reportedly, Thompson had several complaints to event host Screw Attack outlined below:

In an effort to make their nation violent videogame-free, 16 German Interior Ministers have moved to ask the Bundestag (the equivalent of parliament in Germany) for a total ban on violent video games. If approved, this won't be just your average banhammer - this is a national banhammer that even goes as far as prohibiting violent game development in the country.

Judge Dava Tunis' report to the Florida Bar is now available online, and it has recommended that Jack Thompson be permanently disbarred (instead of disbarred for 10 years), as well as pay US$ 43,675.35 in disciplinary costs. Jack Thompson, Miami-based attorney and anti-gaming advocate, has just been sanctioned by the Florida Supreme Court. The order issued states that the lawyer will not be able to file anything with the Court, unless he has another lawyer with good standing to do it for him. The Massachusetts legislature will be holding a hearing on Tuesday regarding House Bill 1423. It is a video game law which was introduced last year but never got acted upon.
