Those who can prove themselves will get automatic berths and top seeds for the WCG USA National Championship in September.  But before that, they'll get US$ 20,000 while players for eight certain games will be flying to Mexico for the WCG Pan-American championships; round trip and hotel accommodations all free of charge. The competitors will come from 10 different countries in North and South America, battling it out from June 22 - 24.

During the U.S. Open, both spectators and pro gamers alike are invited. WCG encourages it as an "Open", where everyone can play and stars are born. For gamers in the know, this is the chance for spotlight and professional gaming contracts. If you think you've got the competitive skills for the PC and Xbox 360 games they're offering, it's the perfect time to prove yourself.

The tournament will play in a "double elimination" format during the Open, while the individual finals will happen during the 2nd day. After that, champions from all over the world will fly to the last stop of their road to glory. The WCG Grand Final will be held in Seattle, Washington with more than 70 countries vying for gold.

WCG 2006 had 1.3 million competitors in its roster, while 24 million swarmed Monza, Italy to watch the action live. Don't forget, it might be very difficult to win the championships but it's always more important to have fun.

Gates - Image 1Microsoft co-founder and chairman Bill Gates went to Mexico City to celebrate his company's 20th anniversary where he forged deals with the local and national government, talked about US-Mexican immigration policies, and even had time to play a virtual soccer match with Mexican star player Rafael Marquez.

The visit was primarily a trip geared at signing accords with officials to enable the government units to use technology to better serve the interest of the people in areas such as business, governance and health care. Gates believes that Microsoft technology can be best utilized in public education and medicine, where Mexicans face some financial barriers to modernization.

Gates emphasized the value of information technology in education by describing the PC as something "so wonderful that we should want every child to have the same opportunity to use it and connect up to the world's information over the Internet."

After sealing some deals with local officials, Gates went over to Microsoft Mexico where the exhibition soccer match was held. The game was shown through three giant screens where Microsoft employees and the media watched. Marquez edged Gates 2-1 in a penalty shootout. The two then exchanged signed tokens in an act of good faith.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - Image 1Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is not a game, but a criminal act against the intellectual capacity of the people of Juárez. That's what Juárez Mayor Héctor Murguía Lardizábal said to the media as he condemned the aforementioned next gen FPS.

The El Paso Times reports that in an interview with the media, the mayor said that federal authorities should act immediately to prevent children and teenagers from being exposed to a clearly xenophobic idea that has nothing to do with the reality of the country or Mexico's best border region.

The Juárez mayor also emphasized that video games that feature violent images involving Ciudad Juárez and its residents are "attempting to create a conflict between sister cities." Much of the combat in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 takes place in Juárez.

"Violent video games instill values which are upside down, and these actions are despicable because they attempt to divide the good will of the residents of American and Mexican cities," he said.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - Image 1

We're all geared up for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW 2) and Ubisoft has heard our prayers. Just a week or so after setting a release date for the Xbox 360 version, they've just announced that the PC version will grace the shelves on March 30.

GRAW 2's PC version gets an upgrade from dev GRIN as improvements were made to the engine, the tactical map, HUD and order system, and the usually frustrating team mate AI. New team strategies and ground support in the form of a M.U.L.E. (No, not the animal), un-manned ground drone. This version was specially "tailored" for the PC, giving smoother graphics and beautiful effects.

The PC's storyline is no different from the console versions. Civil war breaks out in Mexico and starts a chain of events that drive Mexican rebels to US' gates. And of course, they send the Ghosts in to take care of the problem... in 72 hours.

Why are you still standing there? Move it, soldier!
