On Shelves This Week: May 4 to May 10, 2008 - Image 1If last week's on-shelves superstar is Niko Bellic from Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3), today we have Steven Spielberg, the Academy Award-winning director of ET, Jaws and Jurassic Park. No, we won't be playing the director in a video game. Rather, we can now get a feel of his brainchild puzzle video game, Boom Blox. See what other game titles will be released this week over at the full article.

Ubisoft says Far Cry 2 to release February 2008 - Image 1

An updated release schedule from Ubisoft Entertainment revealed that Far Cry 2, the sequel to the original PC hit Far Cry, is expected to be on shelves February 2008. This tentative schedule is also met with a flurry of other video games from the Paris-headquartered publisher, including Assassin's Creed on PC and Nintendo DS, Lost on Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and PC, and Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

While the upcoming holiday season would be the good time to release the most awaited games, it appears that Ubisoft Montreal is willing to join Nintendo in its drive to release its strong games in a period not usually dabbed with high profile releases. Nintendo of America's Perrin Kaplan hinted that Nintendo's move to push back Super Smash Bros. Brawl to February was a matter of refining the game to perfection.

For the month of March, Ubisoft Montreal also has Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction lined up for release on the Xbox 360 and PC. More on this as they develop.

Bosses We Hate - Image 1

Optional/extra/hidden/secret videogame bosses are the guys that either get a lot of love - because they eventually serve as points of comparison to see how big your gaming wang is - or they don't get noticed at all, because well, they're optional. You could very well finish the game and not get pestered by them.

Their existence is an amusing one really, because much like the Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus, they're not out to ruin your day. They don't suddenly show up at the end of a stage and challenge your honor or force you into a duel to the death or whatever. You're the one who wandered into them. You're the one who crashes into their world and asks them to duke it out with you because you rock oh so much.

What follows is a list of videogame bosses we loved to hate - which is a good thing since it's their job for us to hate them - and we'll gladly hunt them down again and again, even if they're minding their own business.

Get the optional hate list after the jump.

The Interactive Achievement Award - Image 1The highly successful action shooter grabbed the most awards at the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards held in Hard Rock Cafe, Las Vegas last February 8. The ceremony is hosted by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS).

It is a peer-driven and peer-based awards honoring outstanding products, talented individuals and development teams that have made a contribution to the advancement of the game industry.

Trailing just behind the Epic Game's Gears of War is Nintendo's Wii Sports, which managed to grab three awards. Minoru Arakawa, former president of Nintendo of America, was also honored for the first time with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Honored with him were Howard Lincoln, chairman emeritus of Nintendo of America, and Danielle Bunten Berry, game pioneer. The former received a Lifetime Achievement Award and the latter was inducted to the AIAS Hall of Fame.

Joseph Olin, president of AIAS, said, "Last night, we recognized the brightest and most innovative in video games in what can be considered as one of the best years the video game industry has seen."
