Dare not cheat the system, for the arms of the law are long -- and can get all your money away, leaving you bankrupt. This is what publishers out there should be warned of. The ELSPA is serious with their business, and you bet you'll get fined big time if you lie to PEGI.

 Following the government decision to uphold PEGI as the sole and official ratings board in UK, the BBFC has sent their well-wishes, albeit still with that restrained barb. BBFC Director David Cooke insisted that the BBFC would have been the better choice. Meanwhile, top industry heads are giving their praises for the government's pick. In our earlier article about PEGI becoming the UK standard for game ratings, some of you expressed skepticism on how the monotone PEGI labels could fare better that the BBFC's brighter ones. Well, PEGI has the answer: they've added a splash of color to their rating labels.

The UK government has announced that it will be going with the PEGI ratings system as the standard form of videogame classification in the region. The PEGI system will be implemented for every game released in the UK. The BBFC, which used to handle games classification, will stick to classifying and rating films and DVDs.

The recent Byron report released in Europe gave the different classification groups in the region something to think about. Despite advocating a medium between both the BBFC and PEGI rating systems, ELSPA had its own opinion regarding the matter by favoring the PEGI Age Rating System as the sole classification system for video games in Europe. We got an interesting tidbit of information regarding the report on video games made by TV psychologist Tanya Byron. Apparently, the whole study that was released this year had a whopping total amount of about US$ 544,000. Details can be found after the jump.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the recently released Byron Report.
