Game producer Ben Judd: Bionic Commando franchise Ben Judd, at the helm of production for Bionic Commando (PC, Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360), was featured in a podcast and spilled details on Capcom's attempt to revive the NES classic. Judd revealed that Bionic Commando was being aimed at a "middle ground" of the gaming market and that its key characteristic would be the swinging mechanic.

While the most of the hour-long conversation dived into remarks on games as art, the growing trend of classic revivals, and how most revivals will never address the hardcore fan base because of money, Judd was able to squeeze in a few thoughts on what appears to be the production team's views on Bionic Commando as a product.

As a producer, Judd admitted that he first felt that he had to make Bionic Commando "the greatest game ever," but recent training from Capcom's internal producers told him to "stop looking at games as games." To that end, he found it difficult to step out his gamer shoes to view the production from a business perspective.

Taking two steps back and viewing the title from a marketing standpoint, said Judd, showed that reviving the classic would have to be a consideration of a "middle ground" - that is, there's enough profit to be had without sacrificing as many features faithful to the original. There's a risk of alienating hardcore fans, but there's more money to be made, he says.

Also, the game's key selling point - or "hook" as a representative from Capcom's subsidiary described it - would be the swinging mechanic. While already offered by Activision's top selling Spider-Man 3, Bionic Commando's version may not be so semi-automatic in flow and may even require some skill - or so Judd hints.

More details, and perhaps more clues to the Bionic Commando remake, as they come in.

And the only person out of the 250 seated on that fateful flight that cared happened to be a single podcaster from Achievement Junkies. Nelson, one of the podcasters of the site's show, revealed that a particularly flamboyant executive - or developer, publisher, marketer or whatnot - slammed a document sporting information that he wasn't supposed to see.

Call of Duty 5: Victory details leaked on airplane - Image 1

Or was he? Whatever the reason behind the flabbergasting display of what is supposed to be treated as the most sensitive of information, this one (Activision? Treyarch?) guy who just so happened to sit right beside our aforementioned podcaster wasn't shy about revealing the document at all.

LOLcat has a secret to share, too - Image 1He was even mentioned to have walked up and down the aisles of the airplane, with document in hand, sporting what obviously was the Call of Duty logo. In bold letters, the document was titled Call of Duty 5: Victory. Hungry for details? Well, that's where we run short.

Apparently, Nelson doesn't want to sever relations with Activision or reveal sensitive information that might remove the edge of the title against the competition.

But we've got other ideas on our side. We're speculating that fate granted him this information leakage because he was wearing a Medal of Honor: Airborne hat from Electronic Arts while seated beside a guy who might just be from Activision.

So we guess this Activision guy wanted this Electronic Arts fan to switch over to the dark side and purposely flaunted the document, flipped through the pages in full view of his Electronic Arts seatmate and what appeared to be a new weapon that is highly anticipated in one other game, a controllable vehicle of dreamland proportions, a new multiplayer feature that was missing in the franchise, and a single player feature that will redefine the game experience.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars for the PC to get patch version 1.05 - Image 1

Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars gets stepped up to version 1.05 with some exploit fixes, especially for multiplayer games. It's as if the multiplayer issues never die. But this time around, there's a whole lot of balance tweaks slated for the game on the next patch, and as announced in Part 2 of a podcast by Electronic Arts, the following fixes will be included into the game:
  • Left click move/attack mouse option (just when we were getting used to the right click)
  • Harvesters fixed including taking out the Ion Storm when a Scrin Harvester is destroyed
  • Engineer exploit, Observer exploit, and other exploits fixed
  • A number of bugs associated with AI path-finding have been fixed
  • Disconnectors' accounts will get killed, and eventually their CD key will get banned
  • Economy boom and tank rushing will be reduced (hurrah?)
  • GDI and Nod AA will be beefed up
  • Flame Tank damage upgraded from 200 to 500
  • Nod Bikes get 20 to 30% damage increase
  • Avatars may come down in price all the way to $2000
  • Scorpion Tank damage reduction (< 25% change)
  • Blackhand will get a boost
  • GDI's Firehawks will fire off all of their shots in one or two volleys instead of circling around forever
  • GDI Dig In will cost less, and will allow two units per foxhole
  • Mammoth Tank's speed, cost, build time, and AA missiles may all be slightly nerfed (more Sloth now than Mammoth)
  • The Rig will be easier to use
There's a whole lot more in store for C&C3 multiplayer buffs like yourself, especially some updates to unit animations (they did mention we might be surprised) and particularly some Engineer and Observer exploits have been removed. Infantry have been beefed up a bit, but don't expect them to hold out against anti-infantry defenses.

The patch isn't live yet, but it has been announced. We can't link you to the patch's Change Notes because the page doesn't exist anymore. We'd link you over to the podcast, too, but that is non-existent either. So with that, we'll link you to the C&C official website instead.

ABC's LOST series - Image 1And it seems like we just might get off the LOST island faster than any of the characters will, in terms of information on its game version. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, executive producers of the highly popular ABC TV Show and podcast hosts, have revealed some pretty interesting bits on the LOST videogame.

Of course, you can't expect it to be enough to drench the info thirst we all have regarding this title. But what they did reveal certainly is enough to confirm that there is, indeed, a light at the end of the tunnel.

First off is the revelation that the LOST game will actually be a multiplatformer, to find its way through the jungles of the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC. As for how far along is the game in development, Cuse and Lindelof said that the Ubisoft Montreal team has in fact already presented to them the game demo. The guys even went to the LOST studios themselves.

So were the producers impressed? Well, Carlton said it "will actually be a really cool game", while Damon concurred, albeit with a little dissent: "Not as cool as Galaga, but what is?"
