On Shelves This Week: June 29 to July 5, 2008 - Image 1So what's going to be in our videogaming menu starting this week? A whole lot of DS games once again, we tell you, though there's a few gems or two in the Nintendo handheld rough on Tuesday. There's a music rhythm game for almost every console out there, plus a couple new additions to the portfolio of PC games. Somehow we're also seeing another relaunching of Gears of War for the Xbox 360 the "Refresh" edition. We don't know why it's re-listed, but it is. The full list follows at the full story.

Monster Madness - Image 1Hot off the press wire, it's just been announced that Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia (PC and Xbox 360) finally got the smiley-face stamp of the Games for Windows marketing campaign. The seal, mind you, isn't something trivial. Not all games get the Games for Windows certification.

Now, Artificial Studios and SouthPeak Interactive's Monster Madness joins the ranks of other hard-hitting games (both already-released and TBA-clocked) like Halo 2 Vista, LotRO: Shadows of Angmar, Supreme Commander, Alan Wake, and LEGO Star Wars II.

Titles that get the Games for Windows certification are those that meet the standards of Microsoft, as well as guaranteeing the game's compatibility with a range of hardware configurations.

Two Worlds - Image 1

We're sure you're just as interested to learn more about the multiplayer mode of SouthPeak Interactive's Two Worlds, that's why we're just so thankful that they finally sent a press release about it.

That's right, we now have more details as to how the multiplayer mode will actually work in Two Worlds. According to the press release, this will be absolutely separate from the solo adventure, and will allow players to create custom characters "around traditional multiplayer RPG classes."

There will also be a hub-like lobby area where players can join others to form teams of as many as eight players, specifically for the team matches. Chatting and trading will also be highly encouraged. What else is in store for you here? Well, there's horse racing and monster hunting to name but a couple of the many more "side-games".

Melanie Mroz, Executive VP of SouthPeak, was reassuring when she said that Two Worlds would definitely be worth waiting for:

"We're thrilled with the progress that Two Worlds' multiplayer content is making, although the extensive play-balancing and testing that content requires has necessitated a shift of the release date to late July. We want Two Worlds to truly live up to its potential and gamers can rest assured that it will be worth the wait."

We definitely hope so, too. Two Worlds is set to invade your world for Xbox 360 and PC in July 2007.

Getting the courage to tell somebody you like them is hard enough already without a horde of monsters turning up at your doorstep and interrupting you. In Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia, that's exactly what Zack gets and he's naturally pissed. (Wouldn't you be angry too?) He screams like a girl afterwards but that's beside the point.

Since the PC and Xbox360 title from SouthPeak Interactive has been delayed even further, we'll have to wait a little longer for this shoot 'em up - or better yet, obliterate 'em up. But that really doesn't mean we'll stop waiting, does it? Anyway, here's another trailer for Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia featuring some cool monster hunting. Zack goes about it with his fave axe weapons while Jennifer takes care of the monster infestation with two nail guns Lara Croft style.

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia is set to hit the shelves in May 15 (cross your fingers). We'll quit the prattle and let you watch the video. Enjoy!

The game Two Worlds: A Tale of Two Cities by SouthPeak Interactive tells the story of a civilized land besieged by orc invaders (so Warcraft-ish!). Your character has to stop the orcish hordes from taking the cities... which we will now be taking a tour of. Well, we'll check two of the largest cities available in the game anyway, since you have to know what you'll be fighting for, right?

First off, we have the city of Cathalon. The royal capital, where the king resides. Modeled after a traditional open architectural style, it boasts of large fountains and large bazaars. Guards constantly patrol the city, keeping it safe for all it's citizens and visitors.

Next up, we have the Asian-inspired city of Ashos. A port city always bustling with trade, its twisting streets can lead you to the shop of a friendly merchant or even a secluded hidden garden. Citizens walk about wearing kimonos while Samurai patrol the streets, keeping peace and order.

While all of this may seem perfect, the Orc hordes are slowly advancing towards these civilized lands. War has already been declared and the only thing keeping these cities safe is the river Gon. The Xbox 360 version of Two Worlds: A Tale of Two Cities is slated for release this May 15 in the US and May 11 in Europe. If you've been waiting for this game, you can check out our previous article on the game or the latest screenshots of the cities (bottom and top of the article) to help pass the time.
